Yet where is that woman now? Tell me, in what heave does she reside? None of them. Because no God bothered to listen or care. If that is what you think it means to be a God, then you and all your teachings are welcome to do as that poor women did. And vanish from these realms forever.
I heard Batman the Damned #2 ends on a big rape scene. It upset some people on the r/comicbooks discord. No idea if true, but I believe it.

So, trigger warning to those planning to read Batman the Damned #2. I'm mentioning this unironically, I'm not the type to ironically say "Trigger Warning."

I've seen the panels posted elsewhere. It's real gross.

Do Black label books have a content warning on the front? You just know some parent is going to buy that as a random stocking stuffer for their kid without looking inside.

To be fair the scene is Harley Quinn Dressed as Joker drugging and attempting to rape Batman, but then a drugged Batman rages out and strangles her to death while Harley does some Azztastic "NO MEANS YES" wordplay

If a parent goes into a specialty comic shop and gravitates towards the most expensive comic on the shelf with this cover

and doesn't bother flipping through it and then gets surprised at the content I'd argue that might be on them.

I hadn't seen the cover and just figured it'd be a newish book with the word Batman on it. I figured it would be like when the BvS movie came out and on free comic book day the only comic with both Batman and Superman in it was Future's End prologue with dismemberment and other weird body horror cyborgs.

Morrison explains why he doesn't like Watchmen

Grant Morrison posted:

I’ve read Watchmen many times. The reasons that I hated it when I was 25 are still there, but now I kinda like it because I’m older and I like the structure and I’m quite in awe of the absoluteness of it. But for all the same reasons, I hated it.

The fact that none of the characters were allowed to be smarter than the author, that really drove me nuts. The world’s smartest man is an idiot. He makes a plan all his life that is undone by the end of the book in an instant. The psychiatrist sits with Rorschach for five minutes and Rorschach tells a super banal story of how he became a vigilante and the psychiatrist cracks. If you’re a criminal psychiatrist who deals with men in prison, you’ve heard a million of these stories. It was all to make a specific point about how the real world isn’t like superhero comics,

In my school, I was taught in this Scottish Presbyterian way that structure is hidden: you don’t see the writer’s mechanics. Watchmen, you can’t turn the page without him saying “Look at me, look at me, look at me.” Okay, we get it, man. You got thrown out of school at 16 for dealing acid, you’re clever.

I took potshots at him in the media. I was the first person to say Watchmen wasn’t very good – in fact, the only person to ever say that. And that made him angry so then I would get worse. I said that Watchmen was the 300-page equivalent of a sixth-form poem. That kind of trash talk, I’d brought from being in the band because that’s what you’re like in a band. I’d brought all that across with me to comics and it didn’t go down well. I think it genuinely upset him.

Alan Moore didn’t speak to me after that and would take his own little shots. He called Arkham Asylum a “gilded turd.” Since then, I’ve had nothing to do with him and he’s got nothing to do with me. A lot of comic fans like to think there’s some feud but a feud would actually need to involve people’s interest. I read his stuff, he reads my stuff – he pretends he doesn’t, but he does.

It was the archetypal struggle, and it wasn’t fair, ‘cause I love his work. Well, there’s a lot of it I don’t like, but of course, he’s great. We grew up in a very similar time even though I’m a little bit younger than him. It’s the same influences from ‘60s TV and ‘70s TV and the books we read, sci-fi, all that stuff, same comics. And the fact that he got into magic… it’s two people who are so similar but so utterly different that there has to be a feud.

Oh. I always thought that the quasi-feud between the two started when Morrison had to point out to an interviewer that Moore is not a generation older than him just because he has a big beard, was therefore not a formative influence on him, and that he was actually published first, and Moore took it personally.

It strikes me as odd because Moore has been very frank about starting off as a bad artist before becoming a good writer, and it's not like he has any reason to feel inferior because Morrison wrote for, like, Starblazer before Moore did.

I can't find the interviews or anything but if I remember correctly, Moore made a very clear point that G-Mo came up much later than he did and it really dounds like he didn't like being wrong about it.

Willow's WW run hasn't really blown me away yet, though it's been likable enough. This Diana...really reminds me of "movie Diana," which certainly isn't the worst thing in the world, though it makes me wonder where exactly Wilson is..."headed?"...with this whole thing.

It has been awhile since I read it but I always though Morrison was poking fun at Moore/himself/their feud with Seven Soldiers: Manhattan Guardian, where there was an ongoing war in the subways between two mentally ill pirates dabbling in magic named Allbeard and Nobeard.

I could see G-Mo being sore that Moore got so deep into DC's collective cabeza that they're still writing responses to Watchmen, including a loving sequel series, although I would in turn agree with G-Mo that that particular horse has been dead for a while.

There was some kind of story where Morrison said Dez Skinn had invited him to pitch Miracleman stories after Moore quit then Moore heard about it and through some kind of sinister machinations got the plug pulled on it and got Skinn to hire Gaiman instead. Of course I've also heard that Gaiman was already lined up to replace Moore before Moore's run finished, so who knows?

I read the first issue of Wilson's WW and liked it, then saw examples of the next issue's art and tapped the brakes. Does the third issue hold up visually?
