Really? Because this doesn't surprise me one bit. The goal of Stephen Miller's(and by extension Trump's) immigration policy is to create a white ethnostate.

Mark my words, they will eventually try to strip the citizenship of, and deport, all naturalized non-white citizens before Trump's term is done.

Bonus Prediction: Trump will try to declare war on Mexico too.

So is this where we forget that the judicial system exists and will shoot down any executive orders that does this? And now that Dems control the House literally no legislation will pass that would do it either. Can we wait to see how quickly this Vietnamese refugee change is challenged in court and probably held up for who the hell knows how long before totally freaking out?

Trumps been in office for 2 years and while he’s conducted various atrocities, most notably to undocumented immigrants at the border, he’s been stymied in just about everything else due to institutional strength and his own ridiculous incompetence. And that was when he and his

Keyword is "try", not "succeed". Yes, obviously they will be stymied by the courts, not to mention the herculean task of deporting the vast majority of America's immigrant population. But it will shift the nation conversation from "illegal immigrants" to just "immigrants" to just "non-whites" like the fascists want.

Besides, ICE has deported, or has attempted to deport, citizens before.

Yeah, I feel like this is one thing being neglected in 2020 Senate talks; if the Dems take the Presidency, the House, and are, say, 1 seat off, I think there's a solid chance that someone like Murkowski either flips or frequently votes with them.

at some point all your misplaced faith in the courts is going to backfire. They've replaced dozens and dozens of judges with partisans who really don't give a rip what the law has to say on the matter and they will be the ones to decide on this stuff. All these appointments McConnell is making is going to have an impact and it will be on questions as small as whether or not we can deport a few thousand people because they're different.

Genrich was a pioneer in the GOP's strategy of naked opportunism. Like, for all the flak politicians rightly received for being self-serving scum, most have at least one or two scruples. But not Newt. His one and only guiding principle is to win, win, win at any cost.

Here's an article on the topic that I don't fully agree with, but which walks you through a lot of the major highlights of just how poisonous the man's been to our democracy.
