You could leave them in a bags on the ground in a line by your house and I'm sure one person won't take all of them.

The bags just vanish eventually. I get that it’s just holdovers from fallout 4’s crafting but really being able to label chests around your house for literally zero reason is a bit sad.

Basically these cash shop videogames are becoming monopsonies and that's generally a bad thing

yeah its really bizarre how f2p games become twisted for high players, we had a guy who spent $200k in a few months with a direct line to the CEO,CFO, accountants, etc...

getting the power armor with minigun in the first hour of fo4 pissed me off so much. i like the way power armor worked but don't loving give me power armor this early in the game you dipshits

Ever since we've had achievements/trophies, developers have been able to track the fact that most players never finish any given game. For Fallout 4, only 25% of players on Steam have the achievement for finishing the main quest. Add to that Youtube and Twitch streamers showing the game off on day one, and having to have a cool 30 minute demo for reviewers to play, and you end up with this kind of thing where a lot of the coolest looking stuff gets frontloaded in the early game. I've noticed in a lot of newer games that the classic RPG power curve is just gone. Not only that, but it also is very likely that less resources go to the end game as well, since relatively few players will even see it, so the ending of the game comes out unsatisfying.

I hated the fact that the minigun, which was one of my favorite weapons in the classic games, is such a crappy peashooter in FO4 and the regular combat rifle is so much better in every way, and I strongly suspect that they felt they had to nerf it so hard because they give you one right at the beginning of the game, which is classic Bethesda reasoning.

what is confusing? you lose the effect of your regular armor (which can include pocketed mods) when in PA, making it quite possible to have less carry capacity when you enter a PA if your regular armor had a bunch of pocketed mods.

To expand upon this a bit (Because I have played WAY too much Fallout 4) :

With 'deep pocketed' on all 5 armor pieces you gain 60lb of carry weight (20 chest, 10 each for arms and legs). If you aren't playing survival, then your base CW is 200 and every point of strength above that gives you 10 additional CW. So your base CW, because you can never have 0 strength, is 210. Maximum CW if you have 10 STR and full deep pocketed armor is 370. If you wear a piece of +STR underclothing such as the army fatigues, that becomes 380. If you use the Strength bobblehead and You're Special! book you can also get your STR up to 12, putting you at 400 CW. To get higher than that you need to start getting legendary armor with the 'Fortified' effect which grants +1 STR. If you get all 5 pieces of armor with it, that's a maximum of 450 CW.

The downside here is that the legendary system being entirely random means the chances you'll get exactly the legendary you want on the piece you want are VERY LOW unless you use console commands or mods that let you customize legendaries. So getting beyond that 400CW cap is going to be difficult. You can buy a couple Fortified legendaries from vendors, but you end up with an ugly mismash of different armor pieces that way.

The power armor frame assigns you a static strength of 11, so your CW is 310 with just the frame. However each of your legs can be modded with the 'calibrated' mod which adds 50CW each, putting you at 410. You can get even higher if you use the 'motion assisted' chest mod (+1 STR) and use a paint that boosts power armor strength, such as the Brotherhood of Steel paint, adds another +1. At this point you're at 430CW, twenty below your theoretical maximum with normal armor. The plus side is that all those mods, even the paint, are unlocked from the beginning of the game (so long as you have the perks) and require zero luck - you just apply them and boom, you're at 430. And everything looks very nice and matching and not mismatched at all.

The other plus side is that Deep Pocketed armor still has weight, while power armor doesn't. So if you're wearing 30lbs of armor with the 'deep pocketed' mod installed, half your bonus is gone while you can get into the power armor butt naked (No weight from any clothing or armor at all) and still get the same boost as if you were fully geared out.

You can also boost CW with chems, food, and perks but those will boost your CW whether you're in Power Armor or not, so they are immaterial for the purposes of this discussion.

Now you know!

It always seemed odd that they didn't just make the minigun break after the fight. That would have even given players a sense of "woah that gun was badass I can't wait until I really get one of my own."

Making the power armor into a vehicle was, no kidding, the single best and most innovative thing Bethesda has done over 3 Fallout games (I know they didn't make FNV, hush). Everything else is endless, mindless recycling of the Fallout bingo – vault boy, pip boy, power armor, "war never changes", oldie song intro and the 50s aesthetic straight up lifted from the previous games.

That said, my PA rant: they don't understand how to make it feel good beyond that. They add a lovely refueling mechanic to something that is literally powered by a tiny fusion core that according to the description in the earlier games can last virtually forever, as far as one person's lifetime expectations are concerned. They make it so ubiquitous and easy to get that it completely erases everything unique about it. It was so stupid running around and finding empty power armor frames just standing there in the wild. It also was too fragile and too slow. It's literally a powered exoskeleton, it's supposed to enhance your strength and speed! Yeah, I'm saying it wasn't powerful enough because that's what it should be. It should be hard as hell to obtain and maybe get working, but after that it should be no fuss "most stuff can't even touch me" mode because that's fun for the endgame!

I wish power armor was strong enough to be creditable as a weapon. Airplanes at the time had machine guns on every surface imaginable, there were giant tanks and battleship cannons firing projectiles the size of a person, and we're supposed to believe a man in an iron suit shambling around with no integrated weaponry is something the army would feild. As it is, its just the most boring mech in gaming.

Barely accomplished even that with all the ways Fallout 76 seems to break more than 4 ever did. But it would probably be less easier to identity continuing problems from the source material if they used ESO because there's likely a much smaller user base between it and 4.
