He literally supports the team, but the "support" role effectively means "healer," which he is not, and it would be bad to give the impression that he can fill the same niche that someone like Whitemane fills. Isnt he classified as a support under their new system? It doesnt show it in the game but matchmaking has him classified as one. Pretty sure its him, lost vikings, aba, zarya, and tass are the supports now https://imgur.com/a/xYfvIoy

moush posted:Tanking is fun, but healing is not. That's why League and Dota supports are way more proactive. I like Morales. I generally dislike the other healers . I wonder if its because Morales actually goes 'all-in' on healing and has the healing output to truly make up for missing another hero in the scrum? If I'm going to be expected to heal, I want to be REALLY drat GOOD at healing. Throwing out a Rehgar Q every 6 seconds doesn't feel nearly as satisfying as watching three people beat on somebody while you keep them alive as Morales.

Supports in league are there to help set up skills(a tank function in hots) . I mean, the league version of kael thas (Brand) is considered a top tier support (for every day play) because of his ranged 1.5s stun (melee supports like alistair and rakan seem more popular in LCS, but that's risk/reward trade off. There just is no healing/shielding like there is in hots.

I hope that at some point, another company takes a shot at a MOBA that takes the streamlined approach of HotS without the weird bad ideas that Blizzard constantly seems to have about things in their games these days.

Yeah I burned through quests in vs AI without much issue. It's only a problem is you place importance on the event quests, lose a lot, and also refuse to play vs AI.

DAD LOST MY IPOD posted:Do they ever end or can you go around the board as much as you want? Yes, you are supposed to get a rare chest for each additional lap. You probably get more value from the regular chests you get for completing 3 quests (each quest is a sticker, 3 stickers is a chest).

I agree that as a casual player who only gets in a couple games a day at best, which is presumably who the Quick match mode is aimed at, I find my character choices dictated entirely by the daily quests. Like, I don't think I've played a single game over the past two months that wasn't to complete a class quest. And by sheer randomness, 75% of those have been Specialist and exactly none as support. Does that make me "the problem"? Possibly, but Blizzard should probably not have encouraged me to do it then. Class quests are a huge factor for the casual players who ideally make up the bulk of their audience. I mean they would if the game was popular. Charles Bukowski posted:Why not play assassin in draft? Doesn't always get to happen depending on draft. My point isn't about players wanting to play assassin, it's Blizzard creating quests that encourage players to play the most played class that also gives them long queues when there already is a problem with not enough people playing support and warrior. And yeah I get you can play draft to get to get your quest done regardless of what you play but then what's the point of the quest in the first place? I assume the idea is to encourage people to play more assassins. Why would they want to do that?

Just reward people gold for playing the game in general(x games per day, y games per week, etc.) And reward for every 3rd win in a non-AI game or something like how Hearthstone does it. Combined with rewards for Call of the Nexus, I think that could be enough. If you try to get cutesy quests, it's just going to incentivize people to either do something they don't want to do, or incentivize them to be doing something that maybe they shouldn't if you get too specific with it (basically having players make bad choices in game because they are worried about ticking some counter for a quest instead of actually playing properly.) I really think rewarding people simply for playing is enough of an incentive and they need to be doing more of that.

Video Game Suggestion: Just get rid of team chat. It has never produced anything good and it is a tool exclusively made to release rage in a video game. 50% of my losses recently have been because we are doing ok but struggling at times and then some dipshit goes all in flaming on a healer or something and it turns into a playground fight and I want to die.

Haha I hate when the game is winnable but somebody does or is perceived to do something dumb, and people trip over themselves to poo poo on each other and go on tilt. I'm sure we've all seen someone be like "ok how about if I do EVEN WORSE" and proceed to play at sub-AI levels. My biggest problem with this game is a mixture of this issue and people just being really terrible. It's frustrating when somebody sucks, but at least you understand (I play on an ancient laptop and very much suck because of that). What is completely intolerable is when somebody has no map awareness and is never in the right spot, and then ignores you or gets salty when you try to correct them (even benignly). Nothing is more discouraging or unfun than knowing you are going to lose because select individuals on your team aren't even trying.

The fact that Blizzard cannot figure out how to make HotS work is a testament to the complete unhireability of anyone involved in running its development. There is quite literally nothing particularly difficult about developing this kind of game at this point, most of the hard work has been done by others. I stand by my earlier statement at Blizzard currently being one of the most incompetent studios currently making games.

huge bummer, because I love HOTS, but I guess they’re really feeling the pressure. It's not unexpected, given HOTS lack of success and some of the recent blowback against Blizz. But it's still kinda, I dunno, funny? Like, even Overwatch Lootboxen gamblehouse, Hearthstone and World of Warcraft are not enough to prop up slightly less succesful games? Was it just a money drain the entire time? Was it their failure to figure out a way to monetize the game correctly? Not sure what they could do to turn the boat around, even.
