From what I saw the far right is indeed present but not nearly as ubiquitous as the 24h news media would have you believe. I personally don't mind their presence as long as they eat some flashballs for the rest of us (and keep their poo poo to themselves). They might not be fighting for the right reasons but at least they're fighting the right enemy. Last I heard Marine le Pen had called for her supporters to not protest tomorrow btw. Not that they'd listen to her anyway...

well that’s that then. today was far more subdued in paris, the cops were very efficient at preventing us from getting anywhere. not a lot of broken stuff, not even a torched car that I could see, a hastily built barricade made of Christmas trees failed to catch on fire, and i narrowly missed getting clubbed in the head during a cop charge in Les Halles. that’s where they managed to disperse our main group. I dunno if they reformed elsewhere but the rain made the experience not that fun highlights include: a group of black evangelicals managing to interrupt our march by shouting in a megaphone "there’s only one thing that can help us! it’s a name, and that name is jesus!", booing the cops every time they showed up, extremely anticapitalist chants, and helping a shopkeeper get her wares inside, close her shop and then have her join us.

Attempting to take down a government in a way that requires everyone to march around in the middle of winter until they get sick of it, a classic French strategy

Azuth0667 posted:Is it running out of steam? It's not that simple. It's true that there were less people today but you have to account for the massive cop deployment and the tough weather. From what I saw around me, on social media and from discussing with people there everyone is still mighty pissed and nobody's buying Macron's BS. (see that ratio on the post above) I do believe it's time for us to find new ways to act though, we've become too predictable and easily countered as a result.

So in recent news, the police is planning a strike of its own this Thursday due to long brewing dissatisfaction and budget cuts. (Apologies for linking Sputnik but all other articles were in French) Reportedly Macron & friends are making GBS threads themselves that law enforcement might just drop them if this keeps on going. Note that the union leader for "Unité SGP Police" who was the first to speak up about this last saturday is this woman: https://twitter.com/J0sephch/status/1074002885405495297 Her name is Linda Kebbab. 2018 is weird you guys.
