so the whole Uber “you can earn £££ “ In reality is that you are lucky to earn minimum wage? lol the Deliveroo one was quite funny where a YouTube kid did it for a week and predicted he would have earned £100+ (for an inevitable oh wowow I actually earned more! reveal highlight) but got £70 and most of that was from one evening and was visibly crushed with disappointment

That poo poo should absolutely be illegal (really, it probably already is, it's just that the law still hasn't caught up to these stupid "they're not really my employees, they're just self employed customers who use my app" rationalisations).

Which means they work their regular job all day and then drive all night for up to a week at the end of every month. That can't be healthy.

everything on that list is dumb but the music one has to be the dumbest in the most ways not only is the music industry not dying, but if it were to die it'd be killed by piracy. what they should be saying is physical media is dying, and in that case, as far as streaming goes... itunes actually IS dying, because it's the shittiest streaming platform both for customers and especially for artists.

Not to long after their collective soiled underwear was changed, they began to impliment various 'restocking' fees which of course were just late fees++ which they eventually got sued for. Blockbuster is always going to be one of the icons of 'how not to deal with online competition'

It is true that Blockbuster late fees inspired the dude to create Netflix, though, but there was nothing stopping Blockbuster from doing the exact same business model as Netflix. They had the name recognition and the customer base and the money, at least to start with. There's still a chain of video stores in my city, Family Video, but they mostly get by on game rentals and people too poor to have good enough internet to watch Netflix.

They literally did - there was a point where Blockbuster had a mail-you-a-dvd service exactly like Netflix, I know this because my family used it for a while for some reason. It didn't help, probably because Blockbuster had other systemic problems and a massive number of physical locations that were losing money and I haven't checked but I bet there was slimy investment hedge fund bullshit going on behind the scenes too
