My favorite thing about Ann Coulter, besides "nothing", is that she knows full well she's unlovable and is gonna die alone.

Also, fun fact, she and Laura Dern were both created by a secret government experiment to combine human and praying mantis DNA. Laura Dern is obviously the successful version.

There are now no more public schools in New Orleans. Katrina allowed charters to come in and take over a bunch of schools, and now as of this week the last public school is being taken over by a charter. This is just the beginning, as if this is allowed to stand you better believe that other cities will do the same. I know here in FL there is a constant push to give charters as much control as possible over schools (while of course requiring lower standards for them than their public counterparts).

It began at a “Make America Great” rally in Ohio. “We’re knocking the hell out of ISIS,” Trump told a cheering crowd, veering unexpectedly into foreign policy in a speech that was supposed to be about infrastructure. “We’ll be coming out of Syria, like, very soon. Let the other people take care of it now.”

The president was still riffing onstage when the frantic calls from the White House Situation Room began pouring in to aides traveling with the president. Mattis and Chief of Staff John F. Kelly scrambled to understand what the president was talking about.

While the Islamic State had been greatly weakened, Kurdish partner forces had a way to go before they could secure eastern Syria and ensure militants didn’t return.

After his bombshell, Trump walked off the stage in Ohio and took a swig of Diet Coke. Smiling broadly, he “knew that people were freaking out,” said one person familiar with the incident. An aide asked him how quickly he wanted the troops gone from Syria and Trump suggested that they should leave in about a week.

USPS has been very good in most areas I've lived, but where I am currently they are largely useless and repeatedly deliver late, deliver to the wrong address, or mark items as delivered but bring them back to the post office. I would have given them the benefit of the doubt re being understaffed, but marking packages as delivered without delivering them reeks of either dishonesty or incompetence.

Pay and benefits isn't a cure all to poor perfomance, it's about the fact that great pay and benefits presumably gives you prime opportunity to hire hard working, loyal employees. If you hire poo poo people then nothing will get done no matter what pay and benefits you offer.

They used to be good to me, but here packages disappear for weeks on end between Allen Park in Detroit and my local post office. I guess there was a huge scandal here a year or so ago where the Detroit PS was tossing priority mail in their scrap trailer to be sent off to be destroyed

just to elaborate a little bit because people don't realize how egregious the situation was that allow this: after katrina, the state of Louisiana changed the laws for New Orleans alone, allowing any public school under the state average of standardized test scores to be taken over by the state and turned into a charter.

not just failing schools. all below the mean - which turned out to be essentially all of them outside of the wealthiest whitest areas

There would definitely be veto-proof majorities of both chambers toward passing a clean CR.

The only real question at that point is if Trump sits on the bill and deliberately waits to veto it to stall the re-opening of the government for no good reason.
