Ok just one more for today.

Let's talk about stormbolters

One of Sisters' biggest weaknesses imo is their lack of plasma, or equivalents.

Sister Superiors and Canonesses can take plasma pistols and combi-plasma. (Battlescribe shows Missionaries as able take plasma guns but I believe it is in error. I think its using the index options for the Ministorum Priest, but that's not the same unit. If I am mistaken, this would be nice to know because Missionary wargear is lacking.)

Blessed bolts directly addresses this.

Here's a comparison of a regular bolter, storm bolter, plasma pistol, as well as a storm bolter using the Blessed Bolts stratagem.

Assumptions in these calculations: I used plasma pistol instead of combi-plasma because I forgot combi-plasmas exist until typing this up, and I did not calculate overcharge. Melta damage is 1.83 because the effective average is of 1,2,2,2,2,2, unless you're up against death guard or something in which case, you know, nevermind, it's close enough.

code:

Finally getting my drafting table over to the new house today, which means I can finally get back to painting after about a month off. Gonna spend New Year's weekend just powering through basecoating Imperial Fists and doing some details on my Deathwatch.

I've got dozens of push-fit Marines to practice on, I'm gonna compare Yriel Yellow basecoat over a white, averland sunset, and grey primer. Grey seems like it wouldn't work, but it can't hurt to try.

I might also give a shot to another brand of paint, preferably something with a squeeze bottle. The challenge there will be finding the right ratio of airbrush thinner to paint, as I've been using Citadel air paints to this point.

My ideal would be like a Michigan Maize level of yellow, intense but not too bright.

You may also want to try a tan primer like Army Painter Desert Tan. I haven't tried it with a bunch of yellow, but it's never failed to give me a rich but not overpowering color in red, which has a lot of the same issues (to a lesser extent) that yellow does.

I dunno, I can't remember what I did the last time I used it. I might've just airbrushed it straight, you'd need to play with it to see what you want with your preferred air pressure and needle size. I only airbrushed a spoon with it because I was just testing to try to match my existing yellow with easier to use paints.

That looks pretty close (it's Desert Yellow, by the way, I had the name wrong until I looked at the cap. :v:). The idea being that it's a still a neutral color but it has the warm tones that is going to make any coverage issues with the yellow significantly less noticeable. You'll still need a couple coats, but any of the hard to reach spots, and the WIP part isn't going to look like motivation destroying rear end.

You can move most of the GW paints into droppers pretty easily, or just stop at your local shop and pick up Vallejo, Reaper, or Secret Weapon.

I've sprayed a lot of oranges and yellows. You're better off priming light grey and using less thinner. For yellows, I aim for 2:2:1 pigment/water/reducer, with a little retarder. Every one I've used (scrufulous brown more than any, but yellows are similar) seems to have really heavy pigment which settles out to the bottom of the cup. Use a light coat over light grey, thin to a darker yellow that's more of a glaze, and go from there

I don’t know about this Mecha line, but Model Color and Game Color take an exact 1:1 ratio of thinner (Vallejo recommended) to be airbrush-ready. Pressure depends on the type of paint.

Also, I personally can vouch for that ratio as well.
