So i checked the store not long after receiving that email alerting me of the sale and over 200 of the 318 items on sale are already out of stock.

Did they have like 1 of each for sale?

Resellers buy most of them all at the discount and put them on eBay at just under full price.

Do I need to dump all 4 boxes out at once for the falcon or can I go one by one? I’m a little confused because there a ton of #1 bags in the first box but then just random 14 and 15 etc so it seems like maybe I’m just supposed to dump them all?

I wouldn’t mind not having 200 bags of Lego on my living room floor for the next week.

I dunno. I one-pile everything, but the Falcon (and currently Hogwarts are just too big for it. Definitely do at least one whole box at a time though.

One piling is nuts for a set that big. It'd take 5x as long to build.

Yeah I did that with the UCS Slave 1 and I'd never do it again with a set that size let alone one 4 times the size of it. One pile can be fun for sets that are like >1000 parts

Especially with the falcon which is mostly gray. I'd bet it would take 100 hours.

I just one piled it these past couple days. Took about 4 days off and on (with one day spending like 8 hours on it). If you got the time do it. One negative to doing it that way, if you're not super careful like me and miss a step with a piece or two, you'll end up with quite a bit of random pieces at the end that will take forever to figure out where they go. Also I recommend just spending a day sorting things into smaller piles.

Edit: I also spent like a day sorting before hand so it was really more like 5 days

Yep. Gotta be there at the very moment the sale opens (midnight, presumably?) if you want to have even a fighting chance of getting any remotely interesting sets before they are all bought up. I guess Lego doesn't care because the sets sell out either way, so...

I also had a look yesterday when I got up in the morning and it looked like about 2/3 or 3/4 of the sets were sold out already. Luckily there wasn't anything that I was dying to get, so wasn't too fussed, I was just looking to see if there was any good deal that would push a "maybe" set into "to buy" rank. TBH I am actually trying to reduce the amount of Lego that I am buying anyway because I really don't need that many! :v:

I did pick up the Space Squad though, because that has nostalgia value for me since I grew up on Classic Space!

Unfortunately I don’t think Lego is really in a position to care. They aren’t exactly making money hand over fist these days so from their perspective if they can move a bunch of slow-selling high value sets quickly, they don’t really care who’s buying. The last time both the Technic Porsche and the UCS Falcon went on discount they sold out in under 3 hours. Sucks for the regular who didn’t know about the sale. Im still pissed about missing the Porsche for under $200; I would have finally pulled the trigger.

I also had a pretty good Lego Christmas. My brother - who is the big lego collector in the family - noticed that I am building technic models again (after I got the Porsche from a customer as a present). Couple years ago, I told him he can have all my old lego (technic, that space maglev train, the red/black/green space stuff and the light and sound white blue space stuff, plus a firestation). He built them all and they are on very nice displays in his house.

So at christmas I got back my old: 8865, 8856 and - most important - 8862. My brother told me they were all built when he picked them up (and I no longer cared about Lego), and they they are at the same state he picked them up. And 8862 had one single hose detached, after reattaching it, everything worked like a charm. I mean, I had to get two valves replaced on the forrest harvester, as they vented air, out of the box, and this old stuff works like it is brand new.

I love Lego, and kudos to my brother (spinning the rotor of the helicopter right know)....

Easily my least favorite winter set so far. I know the train station wasn't popular, but at least it fits the theme and works with the train. The fire station just bores me.

Yeah. I was kind of down on it when it came out cause the minifig scale one was so good and 1/4 the price, but after seeing it in store it’s a definite must buy. It’s a Totally awesome set. I’ve got like 60 Lego bux so I’m gonna use them towards that sometime this month I think.

Here’s a question I can’t quite put my finger on. What is closer to actual Y wing minifig scale, the little one or big one?

Big Mean Jerk

Well, of course I know him.

I think the smaller one is closer in overall scale, but a true minifig scale Y-Wing would be not quite halfway between that and the UCS.

On the front part of the canopy? Yeah I don't know wtf they were thinking with that. I wish they had just made a new part for that. Not that it's that bad of a match but it's a UCS set and they could also reuse it to make snowspeeders look less bad down the line.

My girlfriend got me the Technic bucket wheel excavator for Christmas. I was a hardcore Lego fanatic when I was a kid, but I haven't played with them since I was maybe 16 or so.

So far I'm about 1/3 of the way through the 500+ pages of instructions and I'm loving it. Technic sets today are very different from what they were in the 90's. It's strange having almost no parts with actual studs on them, but it makes sense.

Once I finish this thing I plan to pick up additional motors and the IR remote system and set it up to run more functions independently, then I'll probably break it down and see if I can use the parts (and some of my old collection) to build a stripping shovel.

I really like some of the new pieces like the special double peg to cross connectors, the big gear rings, and the 5 stud wide track assemblies.
