Dude apparently used to have some regressive views and was taken to task for it. In response he seems to have genuinely changed. He has been known to officiate Gay Weddings, and on the more recent seasons of his shows he makes a point to give more exposure to minority restaurant owners and upcoming chefs. Also I went to one of his restaurants at the Casino near Philly recently. I wouldn't exactly call it fine-dining, but the burger I ordered was surprisingly good, and the people working there seemed genuinely happy. Apparently he likes to drop by every now and then and check up on the staff and chat with diners.

Guy also quietly went and served food to people who lost their homes in the California fires which is super rad. It's really easy for celebs to turn charity into a pr stunt and generally isn't looked down on even if it's pretty lovely so for him to not do that speaks volumes.
