The only thing that looks fake is evil Lupita's sad grin, but judging by the lips, it could be a prosthetic. e: Not counting the kid's burn mouth, obviously.

They used this kind of cgi in Hereditary, too, and it looks bad there

I'll stake my vast reputation on there being no kind of CGI in that 'Us' girl's eyes.

It’s not a great sign for a film (‘I Hate Kids’), when the trailer for it spells one of the lead actors’ name wrong in big letters, right? Titus Burgess instead of Tituss Burgess.

Samuel Clemens posted:I don't know about Netflix, but the one time I saw a choose your own adventure film in a theatre, you had to download an app so you could vote on what the protagonist should do next at certain points. After a short time, they would load whichever segment received the most votes. This was kinda Neill Blomkamp's idea for what he wanted to do with Oats Studios, except after you watched one of the shorts you could vote if you wanted to see more of a certain character or plot line or even weapon and he would go shoot it. Problem is, it takes so long to produce that by the time the new plot line or whatever comes out everyone's forgotten about it. Plus, how do you monetize it?

So is Neill Blomhack and Oats Studios bankrupt yet? Or do we have to wait until Robocop flops before we can write him off for good?

scary ghost dog posted:lol the premise is extremely obscure, theres no way any of u can qualify calling it dumb I can qualify it by saying the scariest part of horror movies for me is the fear of the unknown. I have no idea why these people are being stalked by themselves or what motivations the entity portraying themselves might have but the fact that it IS themselves is inherently less scary because of it. I loved Get Out and will watch this. I'm just saying that the premise looks less scary because how scared should one be about themselves? Maybe they'll work out why that is MORE scary? Because it knows what you're thinking or whatever? I could get behind that but on first watch Bad Me is not topping any of my Most Terrifying lists.

I'd say the scariness comes from the fact that your doppelganger would know exactly how you'd react to a given situation, what you'd do, where you'd hide. I'm seeing shades of It Follows, where no matter where you go, it's only a matter of time until It shows up. A doppelganger also knows everything that scares you, all your vulnerabilities, and can exploit that.

The United States posted:All other horror movies can bow down to the new master wait that looks... good? like the shot of them trying to get out of the pool by climbing on each other was shot really well and it's not too goofy (for a movie that is about being stuck in an empty pool, anyways), it's like the reverse of that one movie about the girls who were stuck under the pool cover for a night (which, as someone who is terrified of drowning is much scarier than an empty pool, although probably not scarier than an empty pool with a crocodile in it) what they really needed to not be stuck is a mattress, they could have used it as a ladder-type situation.

I for one would be pretty shitted up if I saw an absolute duplicate of myself, especially if it was successfully pretending to be me. It's also been the premise of numerous well regarded horror movies including but not limited to The Stepford Wives, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Possession.
