I've reached the end of Rime. It's a very interesting game and I didn't see the ending/final chapter coming. I had some theories that panned out, like The man in the Red Cloak being the main character's father but everything else caught me off guard.

Yeah, I was also caught completely off guard. But IIRC the man in the red cloak is the kid, he's wearing what remained of it through the whole game.

I thought he was the kid's father? The shred of cloth came from the kids raincoat in that final flashback. Up to that point it's leading you to think the father died, but it was actually the son that fell off the boat. Unless they are both the father, one representing lost innocence, the other a sombre realisation Or did I read the ending wrong?

The game is the father going through the 5 stages of grief from that one model, otherwise it's open to interpretation I think.

Started playing Bound By Flame. I like that the stronger enemies have varying animal skulls, like the giants having elephant skulls, and I also dig that three of the four Ice Lords are women. It's almost always the case that there is only one female villain to add variety, so it's nice to have a more even cast of things to fight. Also the stance system is neat, although hard to work out which stance is best for which situation at times.

Starting to get into Yakuza 0 now. Kiryu is busy getting day drunk while playing darts and pool, going bowling, punching people and playing mini 4wd.

Seems like it'll take a while to unlock good mini4wd parts, which I guess means I'll have to do the story eventually.

I hadn't visited the shrine for the first fifteen hours or so of play (I'm only in chapter 6), so when I got there I had a ton of poo poo including mini 4wd stuff to pick up.

Where do you even play mini 4wd? I don't seem to find anything, maybe it's later in the story.

Best part of playing 4 was the chapter where you’re a cop. I ran around shithouse drunk arresting randos, it was hilarious.

I'm on chapter 2. There was a guy giving out free mini4wd stuff at the shrine, but i think it's dlc stuff so I didn't take it.

The races are southwestish of kiryu's apartment entrance/ north of the bowling alley. There was a woman yelling about it who invites you in.

The stuff you get from the shrine doesnt really break anything as far as I remember. Considering a lot of the parts are in the dream machine vending machines (so pure RNG if you get them) I figure you might as well take the free ones.

I got this game thinking it was a cute adventure game me & the gf could play with a little fox companion in it. The trailer on Steam was as good as the ones for Wall-E in how little of the actual game it gave away.

It's a very well done little game, but its heavy enough that I couldn't go back and get collectibles.

One of my favorite things, just based on how randomly unsettling I found it was in the last level when your character just becomes a shadow, and the button you used to shout the whole game becomes this wordless scream.

Play through the story until the Real Estate and Cabaret Club subgames are unlocked. They bring a lot of Substories with them.

It's best to do story missions fairly actively until you have the aforementioned side activities and get the ability to avoid all the random street fights. The real estate thing requires spending time waiting anyway, and it's nice to have something to do in the meanwhile.

If you just burn all your early CP to get all five duration reductions for Real Estate Royale, it goes much quicker.

While the second boss in Bound by Flame is fairly hard and I'm having trouble with it, it's an interesting fight.

It starts by doing what it's known for and established that it can do, trying to take over your mind, and when it fails, (either because you had help from the humans, or the demon that's already in your head), it raises a couple of zombies to help it and starts the fight proper - it's weak to physical attacks, but has some attacks that punish you for being too close for too long, so when it glows generally in all directions it's time to break away because it'll hit you with a close range shockwave, but if it's glow is in the shape of a pentagram, you can stay close and stagger it out of it's attack by using the same ability you use to knock shields out of the way, then keep the pressure on.

My main problem is being hit by one of the zombies, or the close range shockwave due to not getting out of the way, but it's a cool fight that requires skill and most of the time being hit doesn't feel like the game cheating, more that it was my fault for failing to parry or get out of the way. It's actually reminiscent of Dark Souls because you have to be careful when dealing with it.

I like the way they handled J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man. He's an egomaniac in love with his self-image as the tough investigator, he goes after Spidey hard and frequently crosses the lines of reason and fairness, but there's a consistency about his motivation that I really appreciate - dude just wants people to be accountable. When Sable start enacting martial law in NYC, he goes after them just as loudly. Would have been easy to fall into a trap of portraying him as a LAW AND ORDER ON OUR STREETS caricature, but this gives him just that little bit of complexity.

MK has been good since 9, Netherrealm has started making really good games since 2011. The injustice series is fantastic although I have a hard time caring about that one because DC characters just don’t do it for me compared to Aztec Murder God and Psychic Ninja working with an action movie star who went and became a special forces guy. It’s dumb and it’s so much fun.

It's been mentioned in the main SpidermanPS4 thread as well as (I assume) various comic threads that one prequel comic have JJ an actually sensible motivation in that he is deeply suspicious of masked vigilantes because of his history of being an investigative reporter going up against the KKK.
This particular iteration probably doesn't have that history but it's a neat idea.
