I'd honestly rather sit stand for short flights than the tiny rear end seats with no leg room that really hurt my hips.

hobbesmaster posted:frequent fliers don’t get discounts other than having some fees waived (ie seat selection within a class, free bag, same day flight changed), and if you’re referring to segment upgrades they’re either for short flights or limited to just a handful of segments per year for the top people in the program. The Southwest Companion Pass gives frequent fliers buy-one-get-one-free on tickets.

SlothfulCobra posted:Another part of air travel is that most people who fly regularly don't actually pay the full pricetag. There's the whole thing with different classes of fliers getting benefits, such as being able to upgrade their tickets to the higher class for far less money, or even just getting free flights out of customer loyalty miles. society could be structured instead to just spread the personal space equitably throughout the aircraft and everyone has decent breathing room instead of creating an extreme hierarchy of seating.

I'm going to love it when I'm forcibly freed from my body by one of those round-edged plastic white robots and the collection of data approximating my former self joins the horde. It's great how the video begins with them all silhouetted in a dark room, rising in unison from a slumped over position like Doctor Who monsters

i wonder how people would react by the very simple social experiment of removing the partitions between classes in passenger flights so that you could easily see the other classes 12 people squeezed into a sardine can looking at a single dude taking up that amount of real estate reclining
