I'm saying maybe all those things doesn't mean as much as online people think and also MS is the arrogant dumb company that make bad decisions like try to micromanage Platinum Games on an action game, mismanage Halo, or still have UI lag in 2018.

It's an example of a bad decision by Sony. Personally, I couldn't care less. I haven't bought a Sony product since the PS1. (Which has nothing to do with Sony.)

But.. the criticism is about the memory cards, which provide the storage you need if you want to keep more than 1 or 2 downloaded games on your Vita at once?

It was a happy day when I was able to buy a $10 SD2Vita adapter and throw a cheap 128GB microSD of storage into my Vita.

I bought a Vita for the AAA Sony games and PS4 remote play, but stayed for all the niche Japanese games and portable indies. Switch has claimed that throne on the indie side and hopefully they will become the new home for weird NIS/Aksys/etc. games as well.

I am a sucker for handhelds, though, and would definitely buy anything Sony/Microsoft put out if they decided to get (back) into the portable market.

They know everything about uhd br sales and growth as a format stake holder, film publisher, and drive manufacturer and decided it wasnt worth it for them. You can view it as a bummer if you are a physical media diehard like my boy univbee, but they probably have research showing the profit from people who buy consoles for uhd br doesnt make up for the extra couple bucks per unit made and its not like the decision seems yo have hurt them.

I think Sony probably de-prioritized UHD Blu-ray because physical media is really not what it was back when the PS3 was released, especially in terms of expensive 4K media with a limited international library. There have been almost no UHD movies released for movies not originally in English. Even Canada isn't getting some US releases for some reason, it's like they literally can't be bothered to do the bilingual case thing for the UHD discs (but they do it for the Blu-ray and that gets released here). And like I alluded to a while back, some studios don't seem to be pushing it for all their new releases either, there's still a handful of films that aren't getting them due to lack of projected sales (e.g. I alluded to Disney's Christopher Robin film even though it was a heavily-pushed international release that made $200 million at the box office), most recently:

The Digital Bits about two weeks ago posted:

we’ve confirmed with Sony that there are currently no plans to release The Girl in the Spider’s Web on physical 4K Ultra HD in the States. This could change if the title performs unexpectedly well on Blu-ray, but the film’s failure at the box office seems to have put the kabosh on the studio’s initial release plans. It may also have cramped plans to release David Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on 4K and Panic Room on Blu-ray/4K. But we’ll have to wait and see.

We're still getting DVD-only releases of a lot of things because even regular Blu-ray isn't ubiquitous enough, and finally we're still having the issue of the format not really being properly finalized (I believe there is exactly one HDR10+ release currently with everything else being HDR10 with a select few having Dolby Vision as well), which is especially weird for stuff where you can get Dolby Vision via streaming but not on disc.

4K Ultra HD will do better than Laserdisc but not by that much, I don't think. Maybe slightly better than Blu-ray 3D when all's said and done but potentially distributed differently (e.g. Blu-ray 3D is holding on in Europe better than in the US but I think UHD Blu-ray could easily wind up the reverse).

I've had trouble buying BC games for 360 these last few weeks, clicking on a buy link is redirecting me to the main xbox site. So I had to use the Windows 10 Xbox App, search for the game, have it show on the browser, force a login prompt and then get to buy it.

Of course, after that I gave that Edge browser a whirl and it magically worked. :thunk:

Edit: It was also not possible to buy the games on console.

Yeah a few 360 games you can only purchase from the webstore or an actual 360 for some weird reason. There are also games you can’t buy digitally at all and must have a disc for, but that’s a little easier to figure out.

Yes but it's still bad and they keep changing it. Now you can have several groups of pins, not just one called Pins, which is kinda nice but also made adding new games/apps on there just a tad clumsier.

At one point it also randomly wouldn't remember my pins, but that seems to be better now.

Also, the way it currently works, if you have more pins than can be shown at once, your new pins won't go on top but the very end of the group, which means they'll be completely hidden until you move their position or clean up the group. New pins used to go on top of the group, which made more sense to me. When they changed this behavior it took me a while to realize why my new pins weren't appearing (the list had enough pins that the new ones were getting cut out).

40 pin limit per group, for what ever reason. Probably why they were cut off I'd guess? I don't know about the pin system before the current one, I never used it until recently. I think you used to be able to pin stuff right in the guide menu, right?

They've been loving with it so much, I can't remember all the different variants I've seen.

But in the one they had before they introduced groups, you had a single Pins page below the main landing page and that was it. It was more limited but also simpler to use.

Still, whatever complaints I may have, it's still useful to use pinning and it helps lessen some frustration with the UI. I've always used it myself.

I have four different groups of pins on my main page and the UI is still a laggy piece of poo poo that can cause problems, like when none of those pins show up for whatever reason, or when it takes multiple seconds to register a single press on the d-pad. Whatever is going on under the hood with this thing is some dumb poo poo.

It wasn't a personal attack or anything, I was just pointing out that there are bigger problems that are not solved by just pinning poo poo to the front page. I for one wish the Xbox one x was much better because I genuinely enjoy playing games on an xbox more so than my ps4, mostly because of the controls but also due to attachment to the xbox ecosystem and a greater number of friends who play on it.
