Black Lotus was a really good card for any color deck which is why it went up in scarcity. (Its basically 3 free uncolored mana) Cards only get one production order per production number. They announced they would never reprint it 23 years ago They do care about the aftermarket, its marketed as a collectible card game, so half the reason they get away with selling little lootboxes of cars for so much is the unspoken promise on the backend that these will be collectors items and worth money later.
