Do you actually know any.

Maybe it's just because I live in the south and am surrounded by dipshit conservatives, but everyone I've ever talked to who screeched about "the deficit" also refused to believe that Obama cut the deficit, had never heard of PAYGO, dismissed it as liberal deception when informed, and claimed that all deficit reduction from 2009-2016 was thanks to Republicans and also that it didn't matter which president's signature was on the FY2009 budget, Obama created that year's deficit.

Do you actually know people who vote based on whether the Dems instituted PAYGO because that is not my experience.

I assume you're talking anecdotally because if we bust out the polling deficit reduction consistently ranks pretty low on people's lists of priorities.

So just going to forget that you staked out "it only didn't hurt other Democrats because no one knew about the swears" when I showed you Obama calling Romney a bullshitter in 2012 without any of your dread pronouncements coming to pass?

A couple of points here:

First, Obama was sitting president at the time, not a freshly sworn in representative new to national politics with no committee power yet. The two situations aren't really analogous.

Secondly, I've been repeatedly stating that the perception of Representative Tlaib's statement matters more among her fellow democrats than republicans. She's earned a mild rebuke from House leaders as documented here:

https://www.npr.org/2019/01/04/682194516/profane-impeachment-call-from-freshman-democrat-gets-quick-rebuke-from-top-democ

Pelosi's giving her cover which is good, but the Game is different at the national level. Attracting controversy isn't a good look for most committees, unless you're looking for someone comfortable with social media and exposure to run the outreach committee.

Holy Hell.
Trump believes tariffs are paid by the country on which the tariff is placed, when in fact tariffs are paid by the citizens of the country which has placed the tariffs.

Thus, the China tariffs are a tax paid by Americans. China does not pay one cent due to this tax.

Here's Trump getting this rear end-backward again, today, on live TV (the second video):

I wonder how many times cabinet members tried to explain this to him before they gave up.

EDIT: My perspective is shaped as an early-thirties male doing their best to live socialist praxis within a conservative western state and not as a female representative from Michigan who ran without a Republican opponent so my views on influence are obviously going to be different than hers.

And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye

And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.

A man arrested in Moscow that they say is a spy while his friends say he was attending a wedding and what a big overreach it is.

The issue being all signs point to that he is a US spy and Russia is in the right here rather than it being a beat up. It's sort of lost traction when it became clear he's arrested for exactly what he is.

OK so do you think that without PAYGO, these people will prefer Donald "2 trillion dollar tax cut" "I want unpaid-for wall funding" "give me another $100 billion in military spending" "the deficit is the next guy's problem I'll be gone" Trump?

Literally no one cares about the deficit except for people so comfortable they have absolutely no worries at all and even then don't really understand why. Everyone else that claims to care actually is voting on another issue and just using that to sound like they are Smart Fiscally Responsible Realists.

False dilemma as hell, my dude.

No, but that and a collection of similar issues taken together? Probably keeps them from voting libertarian or whatever.

Again, I'm opposed to PAYGO personally. But the average person has no understanding of why it's bad and it sounds good to dummies just barely paying attention
