But also at the same time it's a lot of junk data because a lot of those bikes wind up in landfills so- Basically it's a really bad graph and it's best to ignore it entirely.

This feels like incel/MRA evo-psych bait. "you see, women are naturally attracted to men their age or older because they seek a stable provider, while scientifically speaking 20 is the optimal breeding age so naturally men are evolutionarily attracted to these ages so it's perfectly natural for 40 year old men to be with 20 year old women because biology...." The question too is just "looks best" Looks best as a partner for you right now? Looks best in pornography? Looks best through the lens of current beauty standards? You're going to get drastically different answers depending on how people interpret the question, and how men and women are socialized will greatly bias that. I think the women polled were answering from the perspective of who looks best to them in terms of a partner, what age of a man they'd like to date/marry in reality. The men were answering more hypothetically in terms of abstract "pure physical hotness" rather than the literal age preference they'd prefer to look for in terms of dating. Even with all those excuses though, men consistently picking goddamn 20 as the optimal "looks best" age, even abstractly, is pretty gross and bad. That's some borderline "um actually it's ephebophilia and it's perfectly natural" poo poo.

The tendency of people to interpret things as biological imperatives rather than as subconsciously learned behavior is the wrong part here.

I love that analysis cause it just shits on everyone in the online dating scene, particularly since it's pulling data from OKC, POF and Tinder; men are overwhelmingly cradle snatchers for the 18-22 yo's, but rate average looking women as average looking; whereas women are superficial as all hell; overwhelmingly considering anyone who isn't top 25% attractive as being below average, but at least tend to favour their own age or slightly older. (caveat: the above is only directly applicable to online dating; it's likely that the superficial and low-risk nature of online dating skews the numbers compared to irl interactions) There's rumours that the study was taken down due to the devilish SJW's not liking that its surface interpretations were misogynistic (they're certainly misanthropic); but I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of OKC not wanting to publicise statistical proof that that vast majority of men have little to no chance of being reliably successful when using their product (men are hugely more likely to pay for their optional services).
