I assume this has already been posted countless times in this thread, but https://beta.pubg.report/ is sooooo cool. Search for your username and it finds all the streamers that either killed you or you killed them, and links to the vod so you can watch it. Twitch needs to make this an official thing with every game.

Does this search EU servers? I cannot get any results from my own or my friends' names, and I'm unsure if we just haven't run into EU streamers or if it only searches NA

That was my question as well. Since my twitch username & pubg username are totally different, I wasn't sure how they were linking them up. The only way I could think of was OCR on the stream itself...seems like quite a feat if that is the case.

Hasn't everyone already linked their Twitch account in-game for the items they were giving out for free? It probably just pulls that information and maybe checks that against people that were streaming at the time.

PUBG banned 30,000 people and a bunch of pro players apparently.

quote:

Last month, a team at PUBG “conducted a global investigation on all the currently active professional PUBG players” to see if any of them were using a cheat that had until recently been very hard to detect. Turns out loads of them were, and they’ve now received lengthy bans from the game.

The cheat in question, which PUBG only refer to as an “unauthorized program”, is basically a radar hack that uses a VPN to read packets of game data being sent to servers—not the game files themselves, which is why it’s been so hard to detect—and allow players to view their opponent’s location on a separate screen to the one they’re playing on.

PUBG began a huge wave of bans related to this cheat just before Christmas, booting over 30,000 players (including four pros and their teams), but earlier this week ten more professionals were caught and suspended, along with two others who while not directly involved, knew their teammates had been cheating but did nothing about it.

It’s a massive blow for PUBG’s esports scene, which the game acknowledges when it says this particular cheat “has been severely damaging the integrity of the game”.

Most of those caught face three-year bans from the game, while the European team Sans domicile fixe has lost its Contenders League sport, since two of the cheating players (and the two who knew) were from that squad. Other affected teams must replace the suspended players before being allowed to continue in competition.

Going forwards, PUBG says that prior to future competitions “all participating players will go through a comprehensive background check on all their accounts, and any player with incriminating evidence of having used an unauthorized program will be suspended and prevented from competing.”

I just started following the pro scene with the NA pro league qualifiers and pro pubg is actually pretty god drat awesome to watch. I have never played the game and probably never will, but it’s a little disheartening to see that there isn’t much interest in the pro scene. The stream viewership looked abysmal and it looks like there’s no real interest here, either. Did the game ever have a healthy competitive window or did it just miss its chance to market itself that way?

It's a terrible competitive game because too much randomness and too many bugs lead to a whole lotta feel bads for the players, and if you are interested in a particular team or teams winning, having them lose because their vehicle explodes when they enter it is a pretty drat disappointing viewing experience.

also a whole hell of a lot of downtime, oh man

PUBG as an esport sucks because the only way to get chicken dinners is to not get killed by accident by playing extremely conservatively (read: boring).

Also, last I checked out a competition stream a couple months ago and they just can't figure out where to put the cameras.

Yeah, there is a bunch to watch on a competitive game, but the coverage usually sucks terribly. They don't know when to cut to where, or how to shoot and show the action. The updates to observer and camera modes to show tracers and whatnot has helped, but there needs to be improvement in how the shows are run.

They talk over and ignore the early game fights, then give away all the good positions during the mid game while letting us watch team BiGDiCk or whatever hide in a house instead of the teams actually moving or fighting.

PUBG competitive games probably can't be effectively livestreamed, and probably need to be packaged differently. If they had the game on a few minutes delay, and their observer mode allowed them to rewind and view the particularly interesting firefights from the beginning, that'd be pretty cool.

there was just a tournament on this past week where quite a few of the games were won with the winning team having 16+ kills out of a 64 player lobby. there's still the odd game where one team just spends all game in the middle of the circle and gets a couple of kills at the end to win it but those are the minority

observers still have big problems actually getting to fights and it doesn't help that the commentators often read the kill feed wrong so the spectator experience still needs huge work

Bluehole hosed competitive (what a surprise) by making some stupid decisions:
- No ranked mode on release
- No way to setup custom servers for scrims unless you're a streamer with a known audience
- lovely streaming capability
- This is a spicy take but; too many maps.

Competive pubg is a different game to regular pubg. It's actually really quite fun but it's very tactical in ways that are impossible to practice without a dedicated mode for it. We played in a tournament and got poo poo on but it was actually legitimately interesting. But, there's no way to play in that mindset in the regular game and there are too many maps (and too small a playerbase) to make it a reality so it just kinda died.
