Pretty cool that I'm discovering this awesome site for the first time on the same night that I created the best content anyone will ever see in the history of PUBG: me and Ether Frenzy pan fighting Chocotaco and Boomzy for a delicious victory. fletcher posted:I assume this has already been posted countless times in this thread, but https://beta.pubg.report/ is sooooo cool. Search for your username and it finds all the streamers that either killed you or you killed them, and links to the vod so you can watch it. Twitch needs to make this an official thing with every game. Does this search EU servers? I cannot get any results from my own or my friends' names, and I'm unsure if we just haven't run into EU streamers or if it only searches NA

Since my twitch username & pubg username are totally different, I wasn't sure how they were linking them up. The only way I could think of was OCR on the stream itself...seems like quite a feat if that is the case.

Hasn't everyone already linked their Twitch account in-game for the items they were giving out for free? It probably just pulls that information and maybe checks that against people that were streaming at the time.

PUBG banned 30,000 people and a bunch of pro players apparently.quote:Last month, a team at PUBG “conducted a global investigation on all the currently active professional PUBG players” to see if any of them were using a cheat that had until recently been very hard to detect. Turns out loads of them were, and they’ve now received lengthy bans from the game.

After more than a year grinding at this awful, awful game, I finally got my first solo chicken dinner. The zen of it was, I was just focused on killing mans and playing well, barely paying attention to the player count, when suddenly “WINNER WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER!”

I just started following the pro scene with the NA pro league qualifiers and pro pubg is actually pretty god drat awesome to watch. I have never played the game and probably never will, but it’s a little disheartening to see that there isn’t much interest in the pro scene. The stream viewership looked abysmal and it looks like there’s no real interest here, either. Did the game ever have a healthy competitive window or did it just miss its chance to market itself that way?

It's a terrible competitive game because too much randomness and too many bugs lead to a whole lotta feel bads for the players, and if you are interested in a particular team or teams winning, having them lose because their vehicle explodes when they enter it is a pretty drat disappointing viewing experience. also a whole hell of a lot of downtime, oh man

PUBG as an esport sucks because the only way to get chicken dinners is to not get killed by accident by playing extremely conservatively (read: boring). Also, last I checked out a competition stream a couple months ago and they just can't figure out where to put the cameras.

Hippie Hedgehog posted:PUBG as an esport sucks because the only way to get chicken dinners is to not get killed by accident by playing extremely conservatively (read: boring). Yeah, there is a bunch to watch on a competitive game, but the coverage usually sucks terribly. They don't know when to cut to where, or how to shoot and show the action. The updates to observer and camera modes to show tracers and whatnot has helped, but there needs to be improvement in how the shows are run. They talk over and ignore the early game fights, then give away all the good positions during the mid game while letting us watch team BiGDiCk or whatever hide in a house instead of the teams actually moving or fighting.

PUBG competitive games probably can't be effectively livestreamed, and probably need to be packaged differently. If they had the game on a few minutes delay, and their observer mode allowed them to rewind and view the particularly interesting firefights from the beginning, that'd be pretty cool.

Did the game ever have a healthy competitive window or did it just miss its chance to market itself that way? Bluehole hosed competitive (what a surprise) by making some stupid decisions: - No ranked mode on release - No way to setup custom servers for scrims unless you're a streamer with a known audience - lovely streaming capability - This is a spicy take but; too many maps. Competive pubg is a different game to regular pubg. It's actually really quite fun but it's very tactical in ways that are impossible to practice without a dedicated mode for it. We played in a tournament and got poo poo on but it was actually legitimately interesting. But, there's no way to play in that mindset in the regular game and there are too many maps (and too small a playerbase) to make it a reality so it just kinda died.

The very first tournaments were garbage, but camera work has gotten (somewhat) better and that one female commentator is really, really good, which is nice. I feel like it's definitely watchable now.
