Atlatl posted:people who say m43 cant shoot low light can come loving fight me [edit: and I wouldn’t say m43 can’t shoot low light, I’ve seen some amazing shots with fast lenses and IBIS. As cool as your shot is, though, it’s not the sort of scene I think of for “challenging low light shot”. rohan fucked around with this message at 07:40 on Jan 14, 2019 |

yeah i know nice tree Bape Culture posted:That’s loving amazing. Would you share full res so I can use as wallpaper? Yeah, go for it! You can get the fullsize if you download it there, Flickr just won't let you view the giant thing in browser. It's like ~9900x3300 so unless you're rocking a bunch of portrait view 4k monitors it should work.

This is nice, but I feel it's cropped off too sudden at the top, needs a bit more cloud. Megabound fucked around with this message at 10:55 on Jan 15, 2019 |

Any better? I changed from 16:7 to 16:8 and put a bit more cloud in there. Any more and it just feels a bit weird to me, it's a featureless grey from there on up

I certainly like that more, I feel like it mirrors the foreground ground nicely.

Any more and it just feels a bit weird to me, it's a featureless grey from there on up I’m not being snarky, but if there’s too much cloud in the photo you took and it doesn’t work, it’s probably a good opportunity to learn something about composition rather than try to fix it in post. Did the clouds work at the time? Also I think the second shot works better as a square crop without any cloud.

rohan posted:I guess the question is, what did you originally see when you first took the shot? Clouds didn't really work , but the wideness I wanted meant a compromise. I could have lowered my focus I guess, but it would have out of focus and blurred. Other option is to zoom in more and bypass the surrounding landscape. With it raining I kind of rushed things a bit as well as water was getting on the lens.

I feel like you might feel that way because they're working their way towards HDR and oversaturated? Maybe too much foreground and sky in the last two, cropping more to like 1:3 or something might help. Please note I'm a registered idiot though.

I've mostly been posting on Instagram these days since that's where all the eyeballs seem to be at, but it's a pretty terrible place to post large format shots. Hoping to get a portfolio site up early this year. Untitled by Rohan Bassett, on Flickr Will You Remember Us by Rohan Bassett, on Flickr
