It's also a good way to get rid of custom followers that other mods sneak in because they think they can write as good as, if not better than, Bethesda.

Is there a good level to do Bruma? I know Helgan Reborn is recommended around 20. I'm doing a Light Armor/One Handed/Block/Speech shout knight with ordinator/thunderchild and it's been a blast so far, although I do miss pegging dudes from across a canyon with an arrow and getting ridiculous ragdolls.

Yeah, there's many, MANY reasons you don't want to just blindly install poo poo from the list.

Like the weird "sexy" loading screen thing someone else pointed out. Or any of the followers (other than Inigo). Or the 3d Trees mod (which is also not sexy).

Maybe I'm going to bump my score down from an A- to a solid B because I genuinely forgot half that poo poo is on there.

Edit: Speaking of companions, hey what's up with that Mrissi (sp?) mod that adds the khajit girl companion? Yeah, I know that type of cat person is lore-friendly in Tamriel, but when I looked at the mod it said it had a lot of "mature themes" and I backed right the gently caress away from it because, being a mod on the Nexus, I knew exactly what that was going to mean. Is it as weird and creepy as I assume it is?

probably but if you just install the core mods plus whatever additions strike your fancy it's a pretty stable experience

but yeah you need to avoid the gross "sexy" poo poo but it really is genuinely optional thankfully

I think Bruma is balanced to be in line with vanilla or maybe slightly higher level. But not too dramatic.

Your avatar reminds me of the old old Oblivion modding thread (circa 2008? 2007 maybe?) where someone wandered in and talked about this armor mod they liked and I went to see what it was like. In the pictures on Nexus was armored cod pieces not unlike your avatar, among a bunch of other dong-related accessories.

Do you think this is funny?
Since there are more and more posts about the OP being outdated, I want to point out this:

GunnerJ posted:

So, the Mod Picker thing got me to thinking. If even the most well-thought-out and useful community projects outside the Nexus for sharing information about mods can be undermined by pissbaby primadonna mod authors, what can we do about it? Well, the obvious answer was to start our own mod info sharing site, with blackjack, hookers, etc., but most importantly, with the ability to be honest protected. I started one site and got control over an existing but abandoned one. Check them out and get involved!

TES Goons Wiki

This is an old site that's been just a bit neglected. I asked the original site runner for admin access and so now we can start sprucing it up. Since I went starry-eyed fanboy for STEP elsewhere in this post, I should clarify what sets this wiki apart. First, STEP doesn't really "editorialize" as much as I'd like to encourage for this resource (it doesn't really talk much about why it recommends the mods it does, or why it removes them outside of technical details or being superseded). Second, STEP's mods are about STEP's mission, meaning that anything that doesn't further its goal of "completing" a baseline Skyrim isn't on there (such as major gameplay overhauls).

If you want to get involved (please do!), there should be a big honking "Join" button on the page, but also make a post in the thread so I know who you are.

Immersive Lore-Friendly Mods of Skyrim: HD Ultimate Edition

This is a modest little blog that I have big plans for. The aim is to be an honest review site. I'll start posting on it soon with more details now that I can abuse my position as new OP writer to publicize it in the OP. The basic gist is that I want to enable more of what Grimy's critiques used to do and what novajam sometimes does (but in blog form). If you've got burning feels about mods (especially overrated or hugbox-insulated mods) and want to put them into words without censure, send a join request through the contact form and post in the thread so I know it's really for real coming from an actual SA poster. If I don't know who you are, I'll at least give access to write posts. I restrict access to publishing them to people who are regulars here, though, strictly to prevent randos from making a post consisting of nothing but goatse 500 times, or just generally off topic stuff. Otherwise I don't want to and never intend to exert any other kind of "editorial control."

Honestly things like wikis or blogs are way more flexible for keeping info up to date over the long haul than "one giant thread OP maintained by a single person."

My current avatar and the one before it were gifted to me by the kind folks in C-SPAM because I would not shut up about swimming there for a while.

A reverse image search reveals that the reverse of this cod piece features a wolf howling the model's butt off at the moon.

Please do not inform me about Skyrim mods that pertain to butt howling wolves or whatever.

I have 453 mod folders in MO2, 239 ESPs, and 65 ESLs of which most come from the various custom compatibility patches. I didn't bother converting simple esp plugins and/or compacting formIDs into ESLs even though it's dead simple, so I'd say there's easily another hundred, hundred and fifty inclusive of retextures or so you could add and have them remotely compatible? Total with all the options is probs 6-700? Idk man its a lot

I don't want all the bullshit Convenient Horses tacks on. Sometimes I just want to meander around Skyrim on my horse without being harassed by wolves and bears and poo poo every 30 steps, is that so much to ask? :sigh:

(I have the SPERG perk to make wild animals friendly toward *me*, the trouble is they still hate my *horse*, plus random bandits and dragons ignore me in favor of murdering my horse, and it's really loving annoying. I really loved Oblivious Horses and I really miss it. :()

Depends on what your definition of "pinup" is, but GCE NPCs Replacer has some decent and relatively lore friendly updates on certain key story NPCs. It kinda goes overboard on Serana and a lot of the housecarls, but its overhauls to folks like Ulfric, Tullius, Balgruuf, Lydia, Ralof, Rikke, Hadvar, and Delphine (the lore friendly older version at least) are fairly spot on. It's also modular so you can pick and chose what characters you want to replace if you think a lot of them look too ridiculous.

Smooth Faces for Ladies and Gents also cleans up a lot of the cragier folks around Skyrim without turning everyone into teenagers for no reason too.

Yeah it's not really an issue with wanting to make anyone more or less attractive, it's just that ~my versimillitude~ has a hard time when my character and all my followers have a really high quality face model look thanks to (I'm assuming) some of the mods I installed in the tucoguide, but then the average NPC still looks like Oblivion 1.5 horror shows. I'm not really sure I'm even articulating this all that well.
