39 perfect posts with each roll.

Assuming the scaffold is rated to handle the fall loading to use as a tie down point the biggest danger is probably them moving the bits of floor withing having it tied down, but depending on what they're working over letting it fall might be the safer option anyways.

I don't know how often elevators are SUPPOSED to be inspected, but this one apparently hasn't been in my lifetime.

Also, someone misunderestimated their vehicle height. I don't know how they mnaged, my car could barely fit into the drivethru.

Lmao what the gently caress. In my province they have the expiration date printed right on it, and they need to be renewed annually. Sometimes an expired one is on there for a month or two, since there's only one inspector for the entire province. Even then the permit sign in my building gets vandalized if it stays expired for too long.

Of course, Alberta seems to hate any and all regulation that gets in the way of big business, so I guess I can't be too surprised.

The building in the background was in use and only evacuated for a short time during the blast. It was ~150ft from the cooling towers.
It took 12 weeks to clean up the asbestos in the rubble.

There's a tv show called Blowdown documenting the blast above. Season 1, episode 1.

Flashback to my Lowe's days. We had a guy drop one of those huge metal carriers containing about 10 double-hung patio doors. That made a noise. While a bundle of .40 treated 2x12x16's was fuckin heavy enough, what always made me pucker was the pallets of portland cement.

This is probably a major reason. It's not like you can just blow up the tower and call it a day - once you've blown it up you still have a huge pile of rubble to deal with.

If you deconstruct it instead, you can cart off the deconstructed bits during the process, so it's not like it's going to take that much longer overall.

They probably should have taken all the asbestos out before blowing up the stack

I would know, I'm an asbestos consultant and that will be $2000

I’m no truckfuckler but it seems like a bad idea to have crews cleaning up below as long as that thing is dropping tons of concrete from above

God help us all if it's mating season already. No way am I gonna get the fuckulatus traps out of storage and try to capture one of those huge bastards, not after the last one cut my brake lines. We're gonna have to call in the feds to handle this, maybe those CVSA guys can send us a kill team?

The Greater Crested is extremely endangered given that it's preferred mating habitat is trucks with tailfin lights. No calling the feds on this, EPA'd shut the whole site down. No, we need a toothless Jethro with an atlatl and nothing going on this weekend.

All our Electrical equipment needs to be tested and tagged yearly. Inspections aren't yearly and there is always enough of a tipoff to magically replace all the tags before inspection with a fake expiration date. Also a warehouse that never has all the lights on because if they all get turned on - they trip the breakers. This is the warehouse specifically for our Electrical branch of the company. If only there were skilled qualified people around that could fix the issue, with parts in the warehouse.

The death of a Victorian soldier in a "shambolic" live-fire exercise south of Darwin was partly the result of a "long-held mindset" against rehearsals for combat-like operations, a coroner has found.

The exercise was conducted without a prior walk-through or "dry-fire" (without ammunition) or blank ammunition rehearsal for Private Challis' section, as was required by Army training doctrine.

If you're wondering about the previous fatal accident that resulted in these new requirements:

A Commission of Inquiry into the death of Lance Corporal Mason Edwards found that he was fatally wounded and another soldier injured when they became located behind designated targets during a live fire night training exercise.
The soldiers were taking part in an exercise at the Cultana Training Area in South Australia in October 2009
