I like NPR. Its good for a quick tune-in for some story that makes you say, "huh. neat." about how a jungle tribe of indigenous peoples are using avocado husks to make cod pieces for the Milan fashion show or whatever.

In local crim law news: Oklahoma attorney accused of solicitation of murder, witness tampering Attorney accused of solicitation advised Tulsa sex workers and prostitution ring leaders (same attorney) (but different from the judge who lost his election over going to the same 'massage' parlor) (this Judge) And a peek into some staffing issues at the DAs office.

NPR is great as long as they aren't reporting on politics or policy. I had to turn off their "expert" talking about how we can't afford public healthcare.

I like NPR until they start taking calls from people. Jim, in Duluth, you’re on the air. Hello? Hello Jim, yes, go ahead. Hi. Yes. I really appreciate you taking my call. I’ve been a longtime listener. Hello? Yes Jim, go ahead, what’s your question. [Proceeds to rant cluelessly until the host hangs up on him] NPR is the source of this interview though which starts out painfully awkward and just gets better from there. https://youtu.be/qNxuL-uIaTo

Am I supposed to believe the cops in the SDNY who obviously leaked the info to buzzfeed or the cops in the special investigation who repeatedly no commented what they had for lunch but felt the need to refute the buzzfeed article 24 hours after it was published after no commenting it prior to punishing?

Buzzfeed has said they stand by their sources and asked the special counsel’s office for clarification of what they take issue with.

Or there is no evidence (as described) whatsoever obtained by SCO, but SDNY obtained it and shared it with SCO. Or there is nothing accurate about the article. Or what you said. It’s totally without substance. The more important question is why they chose to comment at all. The comment was for the benefit of someone(s). Obviously SCO is furious about this leak, but other than that I agree that it’s being spun by the right to fit their fake news narrative. Just funny to hear them try to discredit the SCO by taking the SCO at face value.

The people that buy in to the fake news enemy of the state narrative got full permission a long time ago. This particular instance isn’t going to make it noticeably worse.

I agree in the long term it’s meaningless. Still curious the motivations of the SCO in commenting the way they did. Was it for Cohen’s benefit? Flynn? Someone else in Trump’s orbit? Someone else we don’t know about?

They’re adjusting for a Democratic House. If they don’t correct reports like this, Democrats may rush to impeach on bad information. There was no risk of that happening when Republicans were in control, so they stayed quiet.

I think it’s safe to assume Mueller wants Congress to act on his report. Better to tamp down bad information now then say nothing and let Congress assume it’s true.

Finished the Three Body Problem trilogy last night and whoever (blarzgh maybe?) told me to keep going and read books 2 and 3, v good recommendation. I actually thought most of book 1 and the first half of 2 were pretty boring and conventional. The twists were good but really slow developing and couched in technological terms that made it not all that sci-fi. But after Liu Ji wakes up from hibernation the first time and we get the 200 yr time jump woah. It never let off the gas from there. Reminded me of all the best parts of The Foundation without the super dull parts.

You and I have shared a remarkably coincidental experience this last few weeks. Are you also remodeling you kitchen? What color granite did you pick? And is your cat also diabetic? People here have memories like goldfish and 100% wouldn't give a poo poo about how corrupt and evil Trump is if he wasn't also an embarrassment. There are already opinion pieces whitewashing Bush and he lowered taxes on the rich, killed hundreds of thousands of people while destablizing a whole region of the world, and legalized torture just like 15 years ago.

So what happened was political flunkies at DOJ called SCO and chewed them out, demanding a response that refuted the BuzzFeed article, so SCO (pissed about the leak) issued this statement which doesn’t really say anything but placates the DOJ flacks, lets the GOP and its surrogates muddy the waters, and punishes BuzzFeed at the same time.
