An alright dude.
There are 15 sequels to the film Witchcraft (1988) and for 13 of those sequels they are sequential sequels with the same continued story characters etc.. ( played by different actors) . All told there are 16 Witchcraft movies and it's AFAIK the largest sequel series with a continuous story line that has now lasted 30 years. Its loving weird.

Troublesome Night series from China which has 19 sequels , but its a anthology series.

Hey, look. Look, if- if you screw me on this, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine, you rat bastard!
Some 25 years ago, the hottest thing around for a short period of time was the sequel to Gone With the Wind called Scarlett, which got a TV movie adaptation.

Meatballs, too, got a bunch of sequels. Probably nothing of the plot of any of them actually tie into any others. The odd thing is that I don't think I've ever seen the original Meatballs, but as a kid and teenager I watched the ones on TV and video with the 'kids at a Summer camp befriend alien' and 'dead porn star tries to get a teenager laid' ones.

I know it's pretty recent, but Hot Tub Time Machine had a theatrically released sequel not that long ago and I think it faded from memory pretty quickly.

The 2nd one, despite a few stupid scenes, was kind awesome but holy gently caress the 3rd one. I have to post this whenever Trinity comes up: http://snipeseyes.ytmnd.com/

When I saw that movie I had so many reasons I hated it. Why'd they kill Whistler? Why'd everyone not get Whistler was a bad guy? Why is Blade barely in the movie? Why (at the time) doesn't Ryan Reynolds get a better superhero movie, he seems funny?

Turns out the answers were pretty much entirely Snipes acting like a drugged out nutjob forcing them to re-write the script on the fly to shoot around him constantly which is hilarious. Well except the last one, the answer to that is 'Deadpool wasn't a franchise yet.' Blade 3 was a poo poo movie I hated but it did make me like Reynolds, I guess.

This is also the case for 90% of the Die Hard sequels, although probably the only one that might qualify as a "much lesser known sequel" enough for this thread is the one that didn't start out as an unrelated movie script.

The original director was working to get the film made for like, four years. He was fired after three days of filming. He then moved in with a paralyzed man living on the island and had the makeup crew disguise him as one of the man animals so he could keep an eye on the movie lmao

Seriously that movie was cursed from day one. Val Kilmer was going through a divorce so when he showed up on set he demanded to be in the film 40% less. And Brando, oh man. Peak insane Brando. He insisted that the world's smallest man be in the movie. I think he even wanted to give him all his lines of dialogue as well.

Yeah the documentary is amazing. The cast and crew were also often in open revolt because of the raw deal the original director got. Like to the point no one could tell how much of Brando was him jist bring Brando and how much was him just shutting down production.
