This is awesome! Second getting the Grey Shield in there. I'm aiming on doing a silly Ultramarines Brigade with Roboute, and having his second in command be a Primaris Lt wit Grey Shield so my 4 units of Intercessors (all flavours) can benefit from one of the other tactics. Raven Guard or Imp Fists (especially if your boy was using Haulers for cover) likely will be the one chosen. And them using Imp Fists is fluffy as hell. Edit: dammit top of page. Have some WIPs - Whoever it was said watercolour pencils for edge highlighting was a genius -  Chipping fluid is so fun it should be illegal -

I don’t know what I was expecting for those pistols, but I’ll take it. Three S4 AP-1 D2 shots at 2+ is a nice Primaris mulcher (not that most armies need help in that regard). I’m interested to see if Kelermorphs have any unit synergy or are just awesome models with decent rules for themselves. I’m assuming they’re in the Elite slot.

Tau have way too many goddamn options for KT, jeez. Are there like...Tau upgrade kits or anything? I found basically a stack of gun drones at various stages of painted and a bunch of fire warriors and stealth suits in my old 40k box, but I'd really like to change a few things out (the drones especially) as different types. Also I really want a Sigmarine or two to paint up as statues for terrain. I hate the way they look as units but love the way they look as statues.

I saw a few people ask about checkers recently, thought I'd share how I approach it. First I want to break the larger field in half vertically using thinned black paint. Get this line as straight and centered as possible, but it will be fine tuned later in the process. (Doing a larger field I'd start with vertical and horizontal lines crossing in center of area.) Second I broke the area into squares with horizontal lines. These were done on both sides starting at the top so they would be approximately even. Third is bringing a bit of paint around the edge of sword so that I can see where to line up with other side. Fourth in this set is connecting the dots across back after both sides are done to step three.  The next steps are filling the squares still using somewhat thinned paint. I started with the spine and worked out to both sides. Here you can start to sharpen up areas that look wobbly or off. I spent some time here fine tuning the corners of the squares, the sharper they are the more even everything will look. From here it's getting things as clean as you want them. I've seen some of the studio paint jobs doing a slight highlight along the top and one side of squares.  Here is the finished sword on my Excoriator intercessor Sgt.
