Nancy Pelosi is the leader of her caucus. if the caucus is more progressive that's the way she leads, if it's more conservative that's the way she leads. She is the person who knows best what will actually pass. I don't know why people are so hung up on this one person theory. Mitch McConnell acts the way he does because that's the way the Senate wants him to act, the same with Nancy Pelosi. these aren't individual leaders who control x amount of votes they are representatives for x amount of votes. Politics is hard.

Under Obama, House GOP stoked their base to an insane degree by repealing Obamacare every 3 weeks. If you don't even try because that specific bill won't pass the Senate then voters may as well just stay home because there's literally nothing beyond the empty platitudes for them to go on. You have to give people a reason to want to show up to give you the Senate, and you do that by showing what could be getting passed if you had control of the Senate now.
