Play posted:At the end of the day they are correct though. Maduro needs to go. He needed to go a long time ago, people in Venezuela have been suffering for years without cause. The US foolishly advertising themselves as taking a side doesn't change everything that Venezuelans have done to fight for themselves and their survival. They're not in a position to reject foreign help. I personally don’t think we should support the US installing a puppet with little to no local support but maybe this time it will work This isn’t even a guess either the US has said this coup is basically something they have been planning for a bit

This weekend one of my rear end in a top hat cats started knocking a bunch of stuff on my coffee table while I was drinking some freshly made hot tea, and I jumped up to stop him and spilled hot tea all over myself. I got some light burns on my stomach, but didn't burn myself too badly. The jerk in question is on the left. Luckily for him, he is very cute and fuzzy. If you're even remotely familiar with what's going on there, you'd understand. But the fact that you called Maduro "popular" and can only conceive of this issue as it relates to US foreign policy implies that you don't. I resent the fact that the US has gotten involved (when has it been able to stop itself?) but using that to discredit everything Venezuelans themselves have done to lead up to this point is insulting. Maduro is an illegitimate dictator who the people of Venezuela don't want. It's not remotely the same situation as it was in the 20th century, and most of the will to install a true, democratic leader has come from inside the country and from its closest neighbors. Unsurprising that the US chooses to add their support. So your facts are totally wrong, from Maduro being popular to the coup having "little to no" local support to this being exactly like the US installing right wing dictators in Latin America last century. None of that is correct

I um don’t think you know much about this play as you are really wrong. Like the US itself has said it has set up this coup and are openly talking about the only thing they needed was a man on the ground. It also helps that Juan has already walked back his claim to be interim president for 30 days to 6-9 months so he can deal with corruption, ie purge anyone Marudo adjacent. His first policy despite not having any real support is a massive privatization push for the oil fields which we have a lot of evidence is one of the greatest American objectives in the region. Plus America is using sanctions to effectively make the crisis work including denying Marudo money that is legally his to use and giving to the illegitimate parallel government. Plus when Marudo asked the UN to oversee elections they refused because the opposition asked them too. The fact that American Liberals are falling for the exact same thing America is doing in SA that they have always donee is insanely depressing. You think we would learn after Libya and Iraq but we never seem too. Like play read a little more and hopefully you won’t make this mistake for a fourth time.

At the very least you have to look at who is doing the protesting and who is supporting him, because there are stark class lines between the two groups, but even moreover none of that speaks to why the US has any right or obligation or need to be involved.

Yes Marudo biggest supporters are the poor and specifically the black population while Juan and his assembly is generally upper/middle class light skinned groups. One of the more striking events is the lynching of a black Chavez supporter that kind of shows the problems starkly.
