I enjoyed undertale, though I understand why someone would get annoyed with its optimism and sincerity. I don't like the word twee though because I feel like it doesn't really even mean anything. Like, what *is* twee? As far as I can tell, just based off of everything I've seen twee thrown around to describe, it means "anything I don't like that was made by a young person"

I also knew about going straight pacifist beforehand and then did the little extra for the true ending and well I hated about 99% of it and assume that it's aimed at today's kids who are apparently insufferably "random" and have zero attention span. Yeah but when I see the word twee applied to anything that's positive or optimistic or sincere then it kinda loses that aspect of the definition a bit doesn't it? e: not saying whether twee was used appropriately here or not, I just mean in general because maybe it's just me but I feel like I've seen that word used a lot more often lately.

Twee is basically 'cute' and 'quirky' taken to grating and insincere extremes in lieu of an actual personality or creativity. "Tee hee, aren't we having fun here?' and such. The kind of thing that's a comfort zone for insufferable people who aren't quite aware of their brain problems. Undertale goes well beyond that into outright weird, and the creepy bits aren't just jarring for the sake of it but generally meant to demonstrate the monsters are people, with their own problems and dysfunctions and traumas that have made them into what they are, as well as being supernatural beings who are really weird. (and in turn find humanity really weird) I feel a big part of being twee is that at no point will there be a genuine attempt to portray or tackle people's actual problems that isn't handled with the thickest kid gloves or most condescendingly humorous attitude. This thread's OP specifically asks to talk about hilariously bad games and not about your opinions on how a popular game is bad. You can post about that in like every other thread in the subforum. Stick to disasters that make you go YIIKES.

Maybe it's time to let this thread die, or at least remove the sticky. It's not that bad games are harder to find- in fact, the problem is that it's too easy, what with game-making tools being available to everyone, and Steam Direct being such a diaper fire. You'd need to make a real effort to find the real turds among the 1,000,000,000 Russian achievement spamming hentai puzzle games out there, and who's got that sort of time?

You know, if "Grade 9 Games" is actually someone who is 15 or whatever, then good fuckin' on 'em. I know I made a lot of Klik & Play/Games Factory projects when I was at that age that probably looked and played a lot worse.
