Nah he's marching them through the mountains of Yunnan which, while also a tough hike, aren't quite as bad as crossing the actual Himalayas.

Terrain (+) and zero troops, guns, or vehicles? An allied rock fell onto the road, bringing the entire column to a halt, until a brave assault from a rope and the men unlucky enough to be marching in the front were able to dislodge it.

Someone left a flag on top of a hill, and my men bombarded it for a few hours then charged up there. This was then recorded as a glorious victory.

This turns into a solid series of strikes.

Two days of action in Burma? Weird.

The carriers are out having fun again!

I don't think the Allies appreciate me being out here....

We see off wave after wave of bombers and massed fighter escorts.

The apparent defender bonus sees us take heavy losses on the attack though.

They do finally run out of planes though!

Another fine day of 2:1 kills to losses. All good!

Guys, I'm not sure LST's are safe.

So weird seeing the IJN have carrier air superiority in 1945. Uhm, how many carriers do you have active, Grey? And when they have full air groups how many planes can they have?

Grey Hunter

not at my computer, but I have 2 task forces with 5/6 carriers in each - one with the good, big ones, and another with the smaller slower ones.

Wow, nice Grey! Randomly are there any more under construction or at this point no more major ships going to be launched by the IJN?

And you still have enough for a nice brawl.

I just realized it is 1945 in Greyverse...
And Japan is still holding...
Philippines haven't fallen.
China is all but completely occupied.
Burma is holding.
Iwo Jima should have been in the final stages of preparation, and it seems doubtful to me that USA will invade.

All in all, this universe Japan would have a really big bargaining chit for peace talks. Even in case when the Soviets are winning in Europe.

The carriers continue to have fun.

Hi Grace.

We fend of an attack from Australia. The ships are one the border of my imaginary zones, so I'm using this tag for once.

Things go well for them.

This is good experience for my fighter pilots.

The afternoon strike is a strong one.

Ahh, that was a good day. They can't seem to match my carriers anywhere they don't have their own.

And it's the ship people who pay for it.

It's interesting my score is very close to the AI's, but I've really stopped the Allies from gaining anything.

I reversed their small gains – its also interesting that you can see where my supply ships had a hiccup.

It's nice to see my aircraft losses have slowed again, while theirs are increasing.

With no strategic bombing, my planes are flying off the production lines.

Allied soldiers are the ones reall paying for this war.

Although it's not like the navy have had it easy.

This is ridiculous gap in value of lost shipping.

Where angels and generals fear to tread.
It can take anywhere from 3-6 months to a year for sinkings to be confirmed, it's why you'll get the "loss of x ship is admitted" in the ops reports

China-based US aircraft sink the escort destroyer Ume south of Formosa. Meanwhile, in Norway, the German minesweeper M-382 sank to an explosion identified by the Germans as a mine but in fact caused by a Norwegian MTB's torpedo.

Taken directly from the manual

quote:

18.1.1 FOG OF WAR
This setting only displays information on enemy units that have been sighted, and the information garnered will be based on the Detection Level of the unit (i.e., the information may be limited, approximate, and/or inaccurate).

When set to On: Losses for ground units as well as the number of hits on bases (ports, airfields, supplies) are randomized to be inaccurate. Players will not be shown Victory Points for their opponent’s damaged ships. When a ship is sunk a date is set when this information will be given to the opposing player. Until that time, the ship will not be listed as sunk and will not be reflected in the sunk ship victory points for the opposing player. The delay until the information is given is between 0 and the end of the scenario. After the game ends, all damaged and sunk ship information is visible and counted in the final victory point total.

Not all ships will be reported sunk during the Execution Phase if the Fog of War option is used.
