I know why it has three shades of green, but sweet christ. I normally love crazy designs but this is hideous. Fulham has an anniversary kit as well! It's not as hideous. Akileese fucked around with this message at 18:42 on Feb 8, 2019 |

I’m confused, didn’t have enough lead time to develop authentic quality? Don’t you just give the design template to adidas and then they make the drat thing in either authentic or replica material?

Is authentic/replica an American thing? I've never heard anyone else mention it.

Mickolution posted:Is authentic/replica an American thing? I've never heard anyone else mention it. Not for the last decade or so. Most clubs with big kit makers do both versions. The authentic is usually about double the price and is identical to what the players are wearing on the pitch which means they actually feel cheaper than the replicas.

How do they end up feeling cheaper?

Vegetable posted:How do they end up feeling cheaper? There's a lot less stitching and seams and the badges and logos are heat sealed on instead of being sewn in as well. Everything is a bit bigger, Nike badge, club badge, etc so that they're easier to see on TV. The material itself feels different as well, it's a lot smoother feeling than the replicas. They also fit about a full size smaller if not a size and a half.

Replica shirts are horrible to train in so I'm not surprised authentic ones feel different. They should play in basic cotton t-shirts imo. Are players still cutting the bottom off their socks and wearing tennis ones instead of the sweaty polyester/nylon crap?

Don’t you just give the design template to adidas and then they make the drat thing in either authentic or replica material? The lead times for design and work is crazy. Adidas and Nike both are likely finishing the work for Euro 2020 right now, if it’s not already done. So even if they announced the team in May 2018, there’s not enough time to work on bespoke designs and fit into the production schedule Adidas has. Even in Europe, when non-major teams change shirt brands to Nike or Adidas, there’s almost always a season when they have to use spec designs. I believe it’s for the same reasons.
