that really depends on how the rest of the season shakes out. A dry March and/or unusually hot April could derail summer plans. Don't count your corn eggs before they've hatched, etc etc.

My Reynaud's-having wife told me her rheumatologist said Viagra can help. So you know, there's that as an option. I think maaaybe a sufficient dose is less than a lift ticket?

I'm watching the world champs Super G, for Lindsey Vonn's last ever Super G race, and oh boy did she eat it in a perfect example of why you really, really need to pay attention in inspection holy

Got down on her own skis, so I think she's still on for the downhill.

Current Mammoth storm count: over ten feet since last Saturday, not counting what happens today and according to the mountain cams it's "Donner Party" level blizzard still.

Sun valley and snow basin join the epic family next season... Granted you only get a couple days there. Makes a SLC trip a lot better in epic though.

They should give people a retro straight ski option for kicks at the rental places. I'd do it for a day.

Meadows had some wonderful groom today. I'm loving putting my new board on it's edges. It's been nice and cold up there. Off-groom was pretty spotty. I slid about 50 feet on rear end down A-zone. We tried to get into Clark but it was rough getting over there on a snowboard. Getting into Clark is super variable; I've had days where I've made it without strapping out, and others where there was no way in hell I was getting in without significant hiking.

Lake Louise was a great time last weekend. Much more snow than we expected the night of our arrival, then bitterly cold temps on our second two ski days cleared out all the crowds. We skied onto the gondola all day on Sunday and Monday. Then my buddy blew his knee out in a freak accident on an easy run and had to be toboggan'd down. At least it was right at the end of our last ski day and he didn't have any other big trips planned this year, but... yeesh. No idea what the damage is yet but x-rays indicated a possible ACL tear. A damned shame, he's an awesome skier and most of the reason I got into it.

I think I had my best turns of the season today... this winter in CO is blowing last yr out of the water. Heard WC has already passed last season's total snowfall. We've gotta be getting close too. e: just looked it up, we are officially past last year after the current storm cycle ironlung fucked around with this message at 05:01 on Feb 7, 2019 |

Hey Vancouver people how likely is it that Grouse has enough snow to hold a slalom race next week I want to know if I need to mentally prepare to race slalom at home instead, since I plan on skipping the Grouse races because I don't want to drive into the city at the beginning of a race series. Kimberley was super fun and productive this year. I scored in every race pretty hard. Dropped my SG points by 15, and my DH points (which were artificially inflated thanks to only one finish last year) by 112, but still like 70 if you take off the penalty for the one finish.

Highly likely. While they haven't had a ton of snow, we also haven't had any real warm fronts pass through and I'm pretty sure they've been running the snow guns over the last week or so. (And it's forecast to stay cold for another week).

Off to Megève today for the weekend. I did some careful laps of the kids slope (kill me) at Villars last weekend to test out my knee and it felt good, so going to show a mate who hasn't ever been on the snow before the basics. Obviously being very careful not to gently caress my knee up again but it's great to get back on skis.

Ragnhild Mowinckel putting in a good downhill effort in the combination. I think tucking your hands behind your boots (Svindal style?) in a jump just looks so drat cool and confident.

Ola posted:Ragnhild Mowinckel putting in a good downhill effort in the combination. I think tucking your hands behind your boots (Svindal style?) in a jump just looks so drat cool and confident. It's the second most aerodynamic way to go off jumps, which is why they all try to do it. Technically, according to the wind tunnel tests, the most aerodynamic is to have your hands behind your back/rear end, but it's too hard to do it and stay balanced for the most part, since you have to start off the jump pressing down to get the body forward.
