hypernormalization is walking around constantly negotiating the difference between your projected discourse, and your actual material acknowledgement of reality.

brexit is a bunch of useless fuckups going "lol we're going to be starving in six months. lol. lmao. oh what to do." there is a bathetic childishness there that frankly doesn't scan to even the brezhnev era USSR

Is KFC Britain's only fried chicken option or something?

I mean, here in Japan it doesn't have much competition for that exact style of fried chicken, but I thought Britain's closer cultural ties with the US would mean there would be more.

That's pretty good, I assume also those are good deals- the ones in the coupons I get are basically just prices rather than discounts

there's a million little corner kebab type shops that do all manner of fried chicken but unfortunately they're typically run by ethnic looking people

Buying flavorless corporate chain factory-farmed food instead of excellent local ethnic equivalents because you're worried about "disease" or "those people" or "what if they spit in it?" is pretty much peak white boomer.

KFC is the worst fried chicken chain in the US. In other countries is at least maybe say zaxby's tier.

The UK willingly helped bail out Ireland in 2010 when it was in crisis. Ireland’s Varadkar has not reciprocated in kind and we will remember that the next time he comes begging. We will also remember the despicable way the EU has behaved during the negotiations. Europe owes its freedom to the UK, Russia and USA for liberating it in WW2. Tusk and the rest are a disgrace.

:chloe:

The UK bailed out Ireland in 2010 because, as a close trading partner in the EU who had undergone severe financial damage because they unwisely invested in the UK banking system, it seemed like a good idea to keep the UK's closest EU partner onboard. But Ireland took that bailout and used it to radically transform our economy, hopefully learning from the mistakes of the past and becoming a more successful economy that is more stable and on more solid foundations than the "Celtic tiger" poo poo that drove Ireland into its first boom period.

Here's a too long and very stuffy talk on how Ireland feels right now. I don't agree with everything he says but he does sum up pretty well the general Irish view on Brexit:

Brexit ferry company with no ferries may be stranded in a port that isn’t a port

The ferry company with no ferries might be stranded in a port that isn’t a port.

Running new services from Ramsgate was the Government’s big idea to relieve the pressure on Dover in the event of a No Deal Brexit.

But councillors in Ramsgate are meeting tonight to decide whether to make a series of budget cuts. If those cuts go through, it might make the big plans for Ramsgate impossible.

Interesting Username/Av/Post synergy

And sometimes American fast food brands have different connotations in overseas markets, yes? I think Pizza Hut is actually a fancy dress-up destination in Asia (which leads to some very funny scrambled expectations when tourists from Asia come to the US)
