I will never use the word apoplectic because it's a big word and my impostor syndrome doesn't allow me to use them and feel comfortable doing so. It's also a dumb word that makes you sound like you're trying to be a smartass unless you're a writer or something.

I'd rather hear people use apoplectic in appropriate contexts than ever hear the phrase "more fidelity" again, personally.

Speaking of imposter syndrome, I’m in grad school right now and it’s really weird dealing with really intelligent kids (I’m 5 years older than the next oldest person and 10 from my class average). They all have really bad imposter syndrome and are afraid to answer even the most basic questions in a group session or class. Meanwhile my epitome of Dunning-Kruger self will blurt our poo poo regardless of the situation or if I have any understanding of the subject matter. I’ve had multiple students come up to me asking me how I’m able to not be afraid to speak up. I’ve taken to replying I’m an idiot incapable of basic emotions like fear or embarrassment.

I’m doing a stem degree so a lot is straight technical question that I’m taking shots in the dark at, but in our mandated communication and life skill seminars it’s basically that. I’m one of two people with any kind of managerial experience, and obviously the Army is really good at putting you into increasingly new and hosed up situations so I have that going for me as well. Although I have upset a few leadership instructors by asking what happens when teammates aren’t perfectly capable and motivated people. colachute posted:Tell them that the way they judge you for speaking up is the way people will judge them for speaking up and that also it doesn’t matter because in the near future they won’t see any of these people again anyway. I was being a little hyperbolic, but I’ve tried helping in a constructive way. I think some just need more experience putting themselves out, but some have legit anxiety issues and I’ve told them get an appointment at the campus wellness center.

2019: Kavanaugh is who we thought he was and Roberts is suddenly not completely awful (sometimes) (only because he's going along with a past supreme court decision). https://twitter.com/chrisgeidner/status/1093699912204722179 Kavanaugh did a dissent with some bullshit about "providers should wait 45 days to get the privileges, then reapply for a stay" and none of the three conservatives even joined the dissent. poo poo's weird now.

He said that the law won't go into effect until 45 days have passed, so instead of putting a stay on the law, the law should go in effect while the doctors have 45 days to get admitting privileges. If they can't in those 45 days, the clinics will shut down, and then they can sue because the state concedes that at that point the law would be unconstitutional. His issue is they're seeking remedy before the harm the law will cause has had a chance to actually happen.

I did pretty much all the writing on every single group project while in the US, and while some folks were appreciative of the slam-dunk As I was gifting them or were surprised a non-anglophone unwashed socialist would have better command of their mother's tongue () than them, I was more often engaged in arguments defending terms like "whilst", "conversely", or words that the professors specifically dropped during the semester in connection with concepts and topics you could easily tell (unless you're a buffoon) they wanted students to demonstrate their understanding about, like juxtaposition this or superimposition that. My capstone project had one of those supremely dumb and white chicks that was offended by the notion that a foreign student would offer to proof-read their contributions, and insinuated that I was "being a smartass" by diplomatically telling them "totally" shouldn't be used as an adjective, "obviously" had no place in research papers, and "Segway" is a two-wheeled scooter, and neither a verb, nor the loving noun they were looking for.
