French For Rabbits, one of (in my opinion) New Zealand's best indie bands just re-released their last album for an international label..

They're also playing SXSW and another few US shows in March, which will be great.

This new HEALTH album is a wild, dark and transcendent journey.

I bruised the gently caress outta my thigh from drumming along to this thing so hard while driving hahaha

A+

I know we're not even 2 full months into the year yet, but this is easily my album of the year so far.

It probably doesn't even belong in this thread. This is not indie rock. Idk what thread this would even belong in. It's like evilgaze (Is that a thing? It's what I'd call this.) and industrial.

LCD Soundsystem's new Electric Lady Sessions album is awesome too. It's a lot of the songs of theirs you've known/loved for years, but this sounds like them playing a live show. Which I guess they've already done before with The Long Goodbye, but yeah, this is like that except without any crowd noise, with some of the tracks from American Dream and playing a slightly abridged set. So if you've missed them on tour the last few years, live vicariously through this.

I've never really listened to Xiu Xiu, but I got a mass email from Polyvinyl Records and they are promoting their very delicious-looking grape-Jolly-Rancher-esque new record with new merch, including a very fluffy-looking purple bathrobe. Also the newest Alvvays record has a new pressing in a slightly different yellow color and for some reason I want that now even though I already have the original taxi-yellow one.

I wish more bands would offer bathrobes.

The other week I saw Alanna Eileen play to a tiny room with about 15 other people. It felt a lot like the first time I saw Aldous Harding play, and I wouldn't be surprised if she ends up being similarly as popular. Her new album just dropped, and I love it. I think she's gonna go places. Beautiful clear voice and dense rich lyrics.

this is an awesome lineup but every time i see this poster i get really annoyed that Kacey Musgraves is below loving Hozier. the lady just won Album of the Year, let's give her some respect and put her above 2012's Harvey Danger

if it makes you feel better, last year the two biggest acts for each day were kind of co-headliners, getting similar hype and extended set times

Yup! I found out about them through reading various publications' top albums of last year lists, and then they ended up on my own list.

Looks like the closest they're coming to me is Houston in March and that's like 6 hours away. Not sure if that's worth the drive, but the tickets are only $12...

I was all set to see Julien Baker play on Friday but she's had to cancel due to personal matters. I hope everything's okay with her :ohdear:

Going to use the refund to get a Sharon Van Etten ticket probably. This year's looking a bit quieter for live shows compared to last.

Lizzo opened for Poliça here like five years ago, and as odd of a matching I thought it was, she was pretty good back then. I kind of forgot about her until people started talking about her new album and I am pretty excited about her again. Sadly resale bots bought up all the tickets to her show in May in roughly 30 seconds, so guess I am not seeing her.

I am seeing Sharon Van Etten tonight and even going for the opener because Nilufer Yanya is equally as rad.

This is because Lizzo got her start in the Minneapolis music scene. She used to collaborate with tons of people here. And as sad as I was when she moved to LA, I absolutely hope she becomes the biggest star because she is just so great :D
