Operation DEMON WHEEL in the Eastern US Look at it this way: the reward for the other mission is intel, but doing this one keeps intel costs from doubling plus gives you supplies. (Also, I have faith that you won't kill so many people that double-price recruits is going to hurt much, as Tea said)

That's one expensive sniper! Has to be Op. Demon Wheel, to recoup some of that outlay.

I'd definitely go with Operation Demon Wheel. Those supplies will be useful, and having your intel cost doubled is pretty annoying.

Voting for Operation Demon Wheel. Intel is hard to come by. You don't need any recruits for a while.

As far as what units promote to, ones made in the character pool can have a preferred promote (for example I've got Ocelot who will always be a sniper (gunslinger tree is picked manually from there)) but otherwise it's random. It will weight more heavily toward ones you don't have, so if your last specialist gets killed the next rookie's likely to promote to one, but otherwise fully random. Due to the nature of the game and people seeking narratives though, it's easy to come up with "this guy became a sniper because they nailed a long-range shot" superstitions; those have all been debunked. The language is a bit ambiguous for the Skulljack, so here's some clarification on it and Skullmining: the Skulljack alone can only be used for some plot requirements that say "skulljack this guy". Once you research Skullmining it can also be used in the field when you don't have those objectives. And the vote, Eastern US for Operation Demon Wheel.

Stop getting Emi horribly maimed At least she's well on her way to being combat hacker queen, should probably give her the skulljack once you upgrade it to the skullmine thing (so she has godlike hacking power, assuming it doesn't just mean "get a bonus when skulljacking", which would be boring) Also yes Demon Wheel Jen X fucked around with this message at 04:13 on Feb 9, 2019 |

You know what helps with poison? Medkits! I suspect you're going to regret having gone combat hacker on both your specialists. I also say Demon Wheel. It's tempting to just ignore both and focus on the blacksite, but I think you should have enough time to get everything done before anymore Avatar progress is made. And you might find a nice juicy officer to eat the brain of!

You think "Blood Point" is bad, I once had to defend the resistance haven of "Humanity Falls". Like, did you guys let the Faceless name the town or something? Twenty eight minutes in, you run an overwatch shot. Your logic about the soldier already being injured and healed was sound, but you also could have used combat protocol to zap the Viper for 2 damage and force it out of overwatch. Haywire and Revival Protocol are both really good. Haywire is also tons of fun, though, so I'm glad you took it. LPers don't read this one: Them musing about what could happen with the skulljack is hilarious. Bremen fucked around with this message at 05:45 on Feb 12, 2019 |

Stocks are amazing for exactly the reasons you think. Having that extra failsafe really helps when mathing out how best to stomp out an enemy pod. If you're looking for some really weird mission names, ask Jade Star about the pool he had during his LP. A third of them were vulgar and most of the rest were absurd.

Please take a note for the future, Natural20: If I get to join your squad and if you were to promote one sniper to be a pistol specialist, I would love to have my character be a pistol dude. Just to spread my love of revolvers in this game. They don't need reloading, can also use special ammo like the bigger guns, will later get more shots per turn et cetera. In the right hands, they can wreck face. A high-ranked pistol specialist is a nice thing to have in your team. (Not that there is anything wrong with the rifle specialists you have.) Good job on the missions so far.

Yeah gunslinger skills can be really fun. I tend to give them to Ma now just to mix things up. But long watch still seems pretty hard to give up... so maybe not 100% gunslinger.

The game doesn't exactly spell this out and it's incredibly useful to know to the point that I would call it a core game mechanic: Overwatch breaks if you get hit. You had a perfect opportunity to get a guaranteed 2 damage on that last enemy with Enemy Protocol and break their Overwatch before Funky slashed its face off.

Well played! Haywire is great! And on EMI with the bonus to hack you've got a potential all star player brewing. Sure hope they go magnetic weapons next along with guerilla tactics school. They need more damage and more dudes for when mutons and codexes show up

Now that meks are showing up, I really feel like you're falling behind on the tech curve as far as weapons and armor go. If you don't know how armor works (and it's not spoiling anything to say) it's basically damage reduction. 2 points of armor means 2 points of weapon damage will be ignored from every shot. Armor shredding does just what it sounds like: A point of armor shredding means the enemy loses one armor on every successful hit.

It is sort of hinted at if you see the small detection area around civilians in advent-controlled areas, but I don't remember if that had ever come up and got noticed before. Not to excuse, of course, actual bugs and usability problems and unintuitive and/or very important fundamental things that go unexplained like Mr. Vile posted:The game doesn't exactly spell this out and it's incredibly useful to know to the point that I would call it a core game mechanic: Overwatch breaks if you get hit. I mean. Given what you knew at the time, and more freely experimental play being somewhat discouraged by the combined shadows of cascade failures and ironman looming over you... I certainly wouldn't call it a digging-a-trench-with-a-spoon situation.

(That was the last pod but you couldn’t know that)
