actually, would dying to the heartless swarm even count as a clash between light and darkness? it seemed like it had to be between the 13 Xehanorts and 7 guardians of light to make a keyblade, so wouldn't killing them all before they got that far have hosed up his own plan?

I just want to say that the (endgame) boss rush is fantastic. The music for Ansem, Xemnas and Young Xehanort especially stood out and was very nostalgic, even if I never actually played the game where I believe Young Xehanort came from.

I'm at the final save point but I've not collected enough synthesis materials to unlock the ultima weapon recipe. I feel like I've explored quite thoroughly. I've not gone out of my way to hunt down every chest or anything though. What general thing should I do next to get the last few items? Is there a checklist anywhere that tells me what I'm missing?

The most troublesome ingredient is Orihalcum+. There are exactly 7 pieces of it in the whole game, two in chests, 1 randomly rewarded from the postbox in Twilight Town, 1 for finding all 10 treasures in Frozen Slider, 1 for 80 lucky emblems, 1 for a bunch of Gummi Ship missions in the last galaxy, and 1 for high scoring all seven Flan minigames (you'll know you got the high score when it rewards you with 3x ingredients plus an ability). I have a magic build so personally I just use Classic Tone, which actually has higher Magic than the Ultima Weapon, and which you can obtain by just playing and getting any score on the Classic Kingdom minigames.

Yeah, I know all about the next steps and have 3 of the pieces already. The flan games seem like they'll be the most tedious. Collecting the emblems is a nice way to explore the world (and needed for the secret ending anyway), the postcard is just save scumming, the slide game has a nice video walk through. I already have the others from the chests and the gummi boss. But none of that matters if I don't even have the recipes unlocked.

Doing some battle gates should get you the remaining ingredient types to unlock the recipe.

you can also look at the list of stuff you've turned in. you can get the recipe by just getting shards, stones, gems, and crystals of the main types with maybe one or two of the special kinds, so if you notice you're missing one kind of gem/crystal/whatever, that would be a good place to start

There's a few theories going around, Nomura said "Well, initially FF was included as a popularity booster, now we feel it isn't needed" but uh... let's just say no one buys it, since he was much earlier quoted as saying that the FF character choices would be important. More than likely, either Disney or Square started glowering. I have heard something along the lines of "Square wants Dissidia to be their FF Crossover place, so they don't want them crossing over elsewhere" Which is THE STUPIDEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD, But I'd believe it because Square. As for the quality of this game. It's better than KH2 vanilla, it's not as good as KH2 Final Mix. the environments are better than they have ever been- gently caress you whoever's about to argue this fact, KH2 is a bunch of corridors and KH1 is a bunch of platforming with a moveset not designed for platforming. The levels are actually fun to move and explore in this game.- As for the gameplay, There's certainly depth, but right now nothing is calling for it. if you play on Level 1 Proud, you definitely need to get good at the game, but the skill floor is very low. Also, attraction flow, while flashy, is a mixed bag for people. The combat is basically KH2 but more, but there's nothing not on Level 1 Proud that asks you for that level of skill.

I don't think Final Fantasy has been half of Kingdom Hearts for a while. It borrowed a lot of its terminology as far as items and spells and the design choices will be linked because Nomura. All of that is still true in KH3. I would have loved to throw down with Genesis or whatever, but the narrative didn't seem to need them. The secret ending confirms that the series isn't dropping the Square half of things. If anything we're going to get a weirdly diverse amount of it.Argue posted:The most troublesome ingredient is Orihalcum+. the actual mats grinding in KH3 has never been easier (unless you're the kind of cuckoo bird who's trying to synthesize every single item), because you can also synth the mats themselves and Wellspring Crystals have an extremely high drop rate from the pirates on the Isle of Luck overall i prefer the key Ultima Weapon components being gated behind minigames over having to suffer through insanity like the White Mushrooms and Sniperwild again

I managed to get the Ultima Weapon purely by luck. I was fully ready to soft reset with all the post cards I got and then the game gave it to me first go. The quest for getting all 7 though did lead me to realize I should have spent much more time on the gummi ship. I completely ignored it and did no upgrades to the base ship. Then, when I was hunting for constellations and fighting bosses I realized I was missing out on one of the best parts of the game.

Some new characters will be in there as well, and there will be some characters who appeared in the first game but won't in KHII. I wish people would stop saying that crossing over FF and Disney was originally the whole point; it never was. The FF characters were relegated to one or two worlds and shared basically zero backstory with the versions of them from the actual games. It was most definitely there as a popularity booster and not a main attraction.

The FF characters have been on the decline for the whole series so Nomura could use more of his own characters instead.
