While I'm here one thing I can't stand about all these bananee and avocadee singers is that they cannot swear convincingly. Like I don't believe for one loving minute that Halsey or Selena or Ariana have gone to a single dive bar in their lives. Now Kesha, she's been through some poo poo and can swear like a motherfuckin' woman.

i have long advocated for Kesha as one of popular music's finest swearers. no one can swear quite like her.

Can't stop playing this, goddamn. Been a while since any pop has wowed me (prob Lorde, lol), but this is like some weird spooky massive attack horror thing or something.

I think lyrically it's fascinating as hell, visually it's wild, and I can't wait for the album to drop.

Been looking for more really dark and slow pop stuff about nightmares and isolation and poo poo, who else does this well?

Bloodline is ridiculously catchy.

Edit: as is the whole drat album apparently. I'm kind of floored by this entire thing. There's a whole lot going on with the lyrics and music, and the way each song is presented. How did she put this together so quickly? It's incredible and a solid evolution/departure from all her previous work.

I don't feel quite the same listening to thank u, next as I did listening to Sweetner for the first time but there are great songs on it still. thank u, next still bangs, the end track interpolates an N*Sync song which is exactly my poo poo, and Imagine is probably the best song on the album (and has the potential to be my favorite Ari song ever)

"Tell that to Zod's snapped neck!"

i like lots of Katy Perry songs but i think she is remarkably obnoxious as a human being, and it's been a while since Teenage Dream (which is a great single and album)

she was also the worst part of that Dolly Parton medley by a long shot. It goes Miley > Kacey > Maren > Little Big Town > Katy (it is unfair to put Dolly in that comparison because I would break my period key typing all those greater than signs)

this year's grammy show was actually really good. Gaga, Dolly and Janelle were amazing, Cardi and Diana Ross put on a hell of a show, Alicia Keys was a great host and got a better moment than some lame opening monologue would have been with her little two-piano act. It was really run top to bottom by women this year, which is a good thing.

I didn't watch the Grammys when they were on but I just watched this section and holy poo poo Katy was SO bad, your assessment is entirely correct. Especially putting her oversinging vs Kacey clearly doing her best Dolly impression. Katy was completely out of her element.

This, yep. Miley killed it.

Also for some reason I was really tickled when they did audience shots and there was a Korean band (BTS? I don't follow Kpop) and one of the guys knew every word to Jolene.

Katy Perry obviously has some pretty good pop songs but I think her voice is extremely limited. She's kind of a relic from the previous era of pop and I don't feel she really has what it takes to adapt.

I really like Emarosa's new album too, but I was surprised to hear such poppy 80s synth-rock as I remember them being like a post-hardcore scene band when I was in college. Thought it must have been a different Emarosa at first. I guess much has changed!

Sir Babygirl. Their album was Stereogum's album of the week and I've been listening to the songs that are already available on Apple Music and this one in particular has lived in my head the last few days. It's amazing, they have such a great voice, it's got a very "theater kid pop music" vibe especially once the layered vocals start hitting.
