Depends on the troop of course, but most of the former girl scouts I have talked to (and as a former BSA dude it's been a lot) they almost universally hated the experience because it was mostly a weird mix of housewife poo poo and cookie selling. But some differ. And yeah a lot of BSA troops are poo poo, I saw a lot of militaristic groups when I worked at a camp but a lot are also very good and focused on conservation. We did some camping and hiking, though not a ton, mostly because there was a little girl in a wheelchair in my troop, and the leader kinda tailored our activities to include her as much as possible. But we also did other stuff like dancing, singing, arts and crafts, going to museums and other cultural things, etc. Idk, personally I liked it all, and it was cool to be exposed to a range of stuff like that at a young age. Plus I liked the uniform.
