um excuse me posted:What's a rear sway bar? Traditional solution is an airbag or beefier spring on the right side. Clearly, they need some chassis tuning. Looks impressive, though, much like drifting.

Perfect excuse to post an early 80's computer designed sprint car. Built by an engineer out of Texas, was surprisingly fast. ...and just because it popped up in related images, a car from the same timeframe that was decidedly not computer designed. Also surprisingly fast.

Finnegan was having issues with Blasphemi torquing to one side. They address it in this episode of Finnegan's Garage. They basically lock the left and right side together with an anti-sway that God himself could not twist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB9zz7TaZ2w

Some completely batfuck insane rear end in a top hat looked at a slingshot dragster and went, "Yeah that's great and all but what if, instead of straddling the rear differential, you were giving the rear tire a bear hug while dragging your feet on the pavement and holding your face a foot away from the engine and transmission? Also get rid of half the wheels and the safety cage, that poo poo's just holding you back."

quote:Waye, an electronics boffin, equipped his dragster with recording equipment, so data could be analyzed from each test run; an unheard-of practice at the time. One instrument recorded the distance covered every tenth of a second, while a second instrument recorded the acceleration in G-forces, utilizing a weighted pencil pushing against a spring that plotted a graph on a scrolling piece of paper. G-force meter is genius.

I was gonna say it starts to come naturally after a while. I took a winter course at Lime Rock and had no idea how to powerslide. By the end of it I was flicking my car around like a real Scandinavian.

tbh you can practice low speed 90 degree powerslides with most shitbox front wheel cars that have a handbrake. you just can't hold them for long because its more like burning momentum to drag your rear end rather than actually drifting through the exit but both fwd and awd tend to straighten out when you floor it so at least you'll know which way you're facing when you slam into a wall after getting too comfortable

Well as not just someone who spend weekends doing just that in vaious rally cars and also a rally instructor...... Nooooot really. You cant teach disconnect brain. Which is fine, a proper scando isnt for everyone. Not that the gif was a scando tho. That was up at the Rally Aust media day and the actual story was Haydon Paddon lost the back end and juuuuust managed to hang on showing off to the name sponsor of the event. There were a couple of quiet (not quiet) words said back at the passenger swap area along the lines of reminding Paddon it's not a good idea to trash a car the day before an event......
