Well that's significant since it's the meat of the game and can't be avoided. Although I will say it gets better throughout the game as you acquire more upgrades. The dash ability is a particularly huge step forward in mobility and makes combat way more interesting.

I finished Portal! What an absolute joy of a game. I love how you start with these structured testing environments and the real game only begins when you break out and everything switches to these freeform environments and you're left to figure everything out for yourself but it's doable because of how the game sets you up for it. And it was so drat funny. Comedy needs to be way more prevalent in video gaming as a medium. Almost everything is trying to be super serious and it sucks.

How far are you because hooo boy.

Also if youre on PC you can upgrade the games AI considerably (itll still be bad) by editing a single text value.

Activision-Blizzard hire a new CFO, who gets a $15 million handshake just for coming on board and has produced loving nothing for the company thus far
They then release a statement about how 2018 was a record year for them in terms of profits.
Followed by firing 8% of their staff because of 'restructuring'

Imagine the scene in Aladdin where the Genie gets super pissed off and goes "TELL HER THE TRUTHHHHHHH", but instead it is FORM A loving UNION

Was it a good idea or a bad idea to start my first playthrough of The Last of Us Remastered on Grounded difficulty? Time will tell.

I'm just going to assume there are some bullshit difficulty spikes coming up since I just finished the Uncharted remasters on Crushing. I can't imagine subjecting myself to playing those on Brutal, though I probably would have if you didn't have to beat the games first to unlock that difficulty.

There are a bunch of gotcha monster closets in TLOU that I imagine would be pretty frustrating if you were playing on the highest difficulty and didn't know they were coming.

There’s a point where they imply that both of the only female characters have chestbursters in them. I think. It’s uh, not good about women at all, especially in context of Alien/Aliens as a feminist sci-fi franchise.

Like you’re much better off just reading The Cold Forge and pretending nothing came after Aliens.

The only line I remember in all of portal 2 is the throwaway line foreshadowing the ending because for some reason my brain latched onto it and instead of the ending being super cool I was like oh hey finally this game ends.

Oh my word yes. Seriously that whole game has one of the best little storylines ever. Every voice actor is pitch perfect and nails every aspect of their role. It looks great, it controls great, it sounds amazing (the neat multi layered music), the puzzles are a great blend.

I think it is the absolute best Valve product ever made (and this is as someone with 2700 hours in Team Fortress 2 and counting) and solidly my most favourite game ever made. I cannot think of any way to make it better. Even the coop stuff is stunning and playing that with my bestie was a good few evenings of joy.

This is the Valve I choose to remember.
