I started playing Y6, because I can't wait for the 3,4,5 re-releases, and I have to say its the same Yakuza fun, but I don't like how they reduced the amount of heat moves to a handful in comparison to Yakuza 0. The fights aren't a chore, but they're certainly less fun than they used to be.
The trick is to use heat mode instead of heat moves and watch the collision physics turn them into bowling pins.

6 had a new engine so they had to ditch a lot of the animations they'd been recycling for several iterations of the game (along with all those missing parts of Kamurocho.) By Kiwami 2 most of them are back.

EH?!?!?!
Finished FOTNS:LP awhile back. Agree with whoever else said the combat is kinda dull (outside the heat/channeled moves), and really does make you want to just go into Burst mode and do the jumping ground pound to get through it. Boss fights are wholly unfun (the Jagi fight was an interesting twist though)

In many ways, Kiryu is kind of a bad dad (I think you're not supposed to know what to feel about Saejima yet, and the only way they could think of to tweak your perception of him was to have him grab her and pull her down before catching himself and rolling off of her. Kiryu felt comfortable leaving her alone with him because he's such a godlike judge of character that he knew nothing was going to happen.)

Kiryu is a really, really bad dad and he outright says such in 6. He's really good at hitting people in the face though and telling you to believe in yourself so he's got those parts down pat.

Honestly, 6 is a lot like 1 from the looks of it. They built the engine, and put in a decent normal game’s worth of content. Subsequent games are going to polish the foundations and crank up the extras back to what we got used to, I expect.

5's twists are way dumber, they just aren't as memorably stupid as the big twist in 4 because they're smaller ones sppread out over several chapters. But 5 pulls quite a few "actually ___ was working for ___ the whole time!" kind of stuff that is insanely stupid.

But honestly it's hard to pick a "worst" one of the six main games or even a dumbest one because all of them are loving awesome. When you look at the spin off games, the two Black Panther games on the PSP are automatically legit from their soundtracks alone because holy poo poo those soundtracks. And even Dead Souls, it's definitely the worst of them but it's not the disaster it's often talked about as (and it has the best karaoke ever).

Yeah it's gotta be 4 or 5 for sure. The thing that gets me about 4 is everyone remembers the rubber bullet massacre for obvious reasons, but then it keeps doing more death fakeouts after that! I'd have to go back to review but IIRC two characters "die" and come back just in the ending sequence on that building. It's ridiculous.

I replayed 5 last summer for the platinum, just doing the story on NG+ Ex-Hard, and it was the most miserable experience I've had playing this series. It wasn't actually hard, I just hated a lot of the campaigns and the towns they were in. Like half of Saejima's takes place in a single prison yard!

my favorite part of Yakuza is watching serious crime dramas only letting itself breath for a dude to rip steam pipes off a wall to use as tonfas and then getting to kick his head into a fence until he stops and then sometimes going to the porn store and watching a movie of a woman who has just been So Horny since her husband got eaten by an anteater and then Kiryu goes "Hmm, I think I'm starting to see the appeal"

Playing 5 requires you to remember it is Yakuza 2 with a more stupid plot and a spread out main cast that creates feature bloat.

The plot is pretty much the same: X Chairman is dying and Kiryu is needer to stop a war between the Tojo and Omi only for the truth of the birthright of the Omi's Chairman's son is involved.

Just be thankful Sayama wasnt here or she would have taken the place of Mirei

the very intro has the protagonist moving to stare at you, perhaps with his Judgemental Eyes

i'm not saying they should have kept the original title: Judge Eyes: The Grim Reaper's Testament , (but they should have) but Judgment? When the game opens with a serial killer who's defining trait is removing the eyes from his victims? And using the atypical spelling? it's bad folks
