One Nation staffer James Ashby has been banned from Parliament House following a fight with United Australia Party senator Brian Burston.

Senate president Scott Ryan told the Senate on Thursday that the pass of Pauline Hanson's chief of staff had been revoked, which will prevent the staffer from entering Parliament House "for the time being".

Senator Brian Burston came to blows with Pauline Hanson's chief of staff, James Ashby, in Parliament House, Canberra.

Senator Ryan, who is responsible for security in the building, made the decision after reviewing video footage of a physical altercation between the senator and Mr Ashby after a minerals industry dinner at Parliament House on Wednesday night.

Senator Ryan said the video showed "inappropriate behaviour of a pass-holder towards a senator".

Do you think they're counting on the ALP to not investigate any of this poo poo when they take power, considering how much vexatious litigation the Liberals have been subjecting the ALP and unions to via endless Royal Commissions into everything?

One less non-important bill to vote on, that on failing to pass would not imply the need for a no confidence motion. Glad to see scomo getting on with governing.

quote:

A media advisor working for the Registered Organisations Commission (ROC) — who had been offered a job in Senator Michaelia Cash's office — was the source of a leak about federal police raids on offices of the Australian Workers' Union in 2017, the Federal Court has heard.

Mark Lee was on secondment to the newly established ROC in October 2017 when 32 Australian Federal Police officers swooped on the union's offices in Melbourne and Sydney.

The AWU is challenging the validity of the ROC investigation into AWU donations to the activist group GetUp! in 2006, when Opposition Leader Bill Shorten headed the union.

On day four of the civil trial, the court heard Mr Lee had been named in a police statement given by another witness, Ben Davies, who was Senator Cash's chief of staff when the raids took place.

The court heard on Monday that it was Mr Davies who passed on the information to Minister Cash's senior media advisor, David De Garis.

Mr De Garis then made contact with newspaper journalists to advise them of the raids.

He was assisted by Michael Tetlow, who was working for the then justice minister, Michael Keeenan.

Mr De Garis's evidence directly contradicts Mr Keenan, who maintains his office was not involved in tipping off journalists to the raids.

Everything the lnp has touched needs to have a royal commission thrown at it. But the detention centres in particular are worrying. I mean, beyond what we know about them already and their purposely being cruel by design. Their sustained desperation to block medical transfers is starting to look a little suspicious to me. Of course, it could all be explained by simple cruelty and desire to appeal to their base. But there is a desperation to it that has me thinking they are trying to avoid having something scandalous exposed. That's particularly worrying, since conditions would have to be shockingly bad to make the lnp want to hide them rather than proudly boast about it.

What did I do to get fired? Nothing major - they changed their KRA metrics substantially and I couldn't meet them with the poo poo going on in my life

My Job? I did credit assessment specialising in existing customers looking to change their securities - heavy focus on agri-lending.

Most hosed up thing as in, particular scenario I dealt with, or hosed up visual thing?

If the former, there was nothing hugely juicy or anything, it was principally a lot of really desperate people circling the drain looking to get a little something out of whatever scenario they were throwing at the bank.

I had a suicidal customer last week who threatened to kill herself if we didn't approve what she wanted - I gave her what she wanted.

We got a fair few of these in the last 2 years. We usually crumbled, if only for reputational purposes.

All banks offer broadly the same products, at broadly the same interest rates. Put your money in the smaller banks, they actually give a gently caress about keeping people happy - certainly my former employer talked a big game but they were so focussed on $$$$ that they'd stumble and let the customer experience suffer.

Very very few. Most of the people in there were just trying to get through. If you had to put me on the spot and say how many libertarian / fuckwits I knew in there, maybe 20% were true believers?

that % was increasing though as time went on - anz went through a big change last year to an agile / scrum workplace environment, and they let a lot of people go who weren't fully on board with drinking that particular kool aid
