If it turns out to be faked then that guy deserves to be blacklisted forever. Faking a hate crime is utterly disgusting. But hey, we will see. God knows we live in a world of lies now.

It's pretty simple, conspiracy theories about what "really" happened with Smollett are all over the internet being passed around rear end in a top hat circles. Some Chicago police who aren't even on the case read these theories and are convinced enough because they were sure the black man must have been guilty in the first place, and they call up some reporters. Reporters report a source within Chicago PD has explosive info because journalism is also largely racist, when the cop who called them just got it off 4chan.

So both Activision and Amazon are multibillion dollar companies that made record profits, but are also, ODDLY ENOUGH, laying off hundreds/thousands of people. Good thing we had those tax cuts, cause imagine how much WORSE the layoffs could have been!

It's been the same journo pushing that theory consistently since this went down. Iirc there was also some goon saying "my friend at x network says it's a hoax!" So I'm guessing it's the same dude with some weird as loving axe to grind or who is desperately attempting to maintain access to police for off the record interviews in general. Jussie is a BLM activist and cops were the number one suspect when the news broke. I'd be shocked if there wasn't a thin blue line misinformation campaign going around. When they can't kill you, they discredit you. That's right out of the CIA playbook. Oh man, I remember hearing about a specific police force getting some CIA training... Who was it again??

Sorry but the Activision one makes a lot of sense despite the crying and posturing from people who are ignorant - a lot of their games are approaching their maturity cycles so support/community staff are not gonna be kept around forever You'll notice they're also substantially increasing their developer core as they will probably push new IPs/products (that, if successful, will then require those same support staff at some point)

But I'm sure that CEO will put that extra million to good use rotting in a hole somewhere.

Because the chances that this emergency declaration survives the inevitable legal challenges is very low and even if it does survive, they're not going to be able to get any significant work done before January 2021.
