New Dawn might be a total waste of money but I still laugh at people screaming "get this heckin doggo off me" as my...heckin doggo rips them to shreds. I also almost died from a helicopter extraction objective because the dog jumped in the seat I was going to take and I had to run around to the other side. I'm using the excuse that since the apocalypse was 17 years ago, all these mid-20s badguys are raised entirely on memes.

I mean, I got FC5 because I really enjoyed 2/3 and what I played of 4, and it was just such a letdown. The gunplay was adequate but uninspiring, the character bits were fun until the seventeenth time their idle dialog repeated itself, and the ending just killed any desire I'd had to ever go back and re-play FC5. So seeing that I hated the ending (HO HO HO THE CRAZY CHRISTIAN CULT WAS ACTUALLY RIGHT AND YOU hosed EVERYONE BY FIGHTING THEM), I have *zero* desire to play New Dawn in the first place, and now all the stuff I'm seeing/hearing about it just reinforces my feelings. Like, the end of FC5 means that I never even played the DLC I got since I was an idiot and preordered, that's how fuckin' dumb it was. I kind of want to play Division 2 but I'm wary that it's also gonna be poo poo.

The cult had nothing to do with the apocalypse - they were just a symptom of what was going on in America and the world while enduring a Trumpian administration.

4 was the best of the series. Plenty of open world shenanigans, not really a bunch of bullshit (the Shangri-La stuff was optional-ish), good boss. FC5 had a really stupid limited selection of weapons and an even dumber upgrade system. New Dawn has a lovely weapon progression system that's grindy but somehow not as obnoxious. It's still really bad though.

I put probably 15 hours into that game and spent almost all of that time getting the animal buddies and then hunting and fishing. That seemed like it was the best way to play that game. Chillin' in a boat with Cheeseburger, hurling beer cans into a lake.

I beat New Dawn. Took about 12 hours because I was taking my time. Last boss took about a half hour to kill because Ubisoft doesn't know how to make a boss. I might gently caress around with it a bit more but I think I'm done. Probably gonna go pick up Metro on...ugh, the Epic store.

While we got the wishlist going Fallout 4 makes me so mad I want Raider mode where I literally burn everything to the ground and murder and enslave everyone and I never have to pick up anything because that's what thralls are for.

Check out the sim settlements mod with it's conqueror addon. It pre-builds the settlements around the map so you can do other poo poo instead of playing wasteland minecraft Plus it lets you kill Preston Garvey and all his friends when you first meet them.
