I mean probably. The root problem of course is that necessary life saving medications aren't being developed at all (antibiotics), or that through patent/research abuse are being held in private hands and jacked up. It's a difficult needle to thread. On one hand we need price controls because this poo poo has gotten out of hand, but on the other unless the government is ready to assume full responsibility for research/manufacture/distribution we can't be too heavy handed. Plus anything that even slightly resembles nationalization can (and probably will) crater the economy.

I know it's 100% SOP but it's still hilarious to me that anybody traveling to/from PRC for virtually anything gets all their corporate material sanitized like it's a goddamn radioactive source. I was looking at our foreign travel policy for giggles one day and it had huge disclaimers about how we do zero business with PRC, and anybody that travels their for personal reasons will not under any circumstance bring corporate electronics with them, and should you somehow fail to follow those instructions you'll be reprimanded and have to pay for the equipment to be replaced. Presumably because they vaporize it.

I'm not sure if it's bad reporting or what, but that smells strongly of bullshit. Uranium ore is about as radioactively dangerous as a granite countertop.
