quote:I'm a grad school chemist and worked with some pretty foul-smelling chemicals. But honest to god, my farts smell worse than any chemical. My farts are unbelievably rank and vile. And it not the just the smell that's bad, its the quantity of farts as well. Some days, I cannot stop farting at all and it just builds into my clothes. I've always had a bit of a gas problem, but its gotten incredibly worse lately. What do I need to change in my diet to stop farting out death? I'm half Italian and half Jewish so needless to say I am a hairy motherfucker. I'm also not a twink though (or gay at all) so this isn't strictly relevant but eh. How short can you be and still qualify as a bear? Anyway I'd try cutting out dairy Normally I wouldn't bother posting this but I have nothing else and it's certainly short so quote:I am straight. hosed up if true

It’s embarrassing how many Americans go through their entire lives with rancid rear end-gas and bloody diarrhea and don’t ever stop until there 30s and go “hmm maybe I’m allergic to something” MOST PEOPLE are allergic to wheat. This isn’t a gluten allergy like in Hollywood, it’s a “most, like 75% of people you know really shouldn’t eat wheat, or drink milk”

My dad’s family is black from West Virginia, my mom is French/German, and a glass of milk could probably kill my brother. Also, for whatever reason, I can’t eat any form of dairy or cheese before bed with having vivid, screaming nightmares, so while I don’t really drink milk or eat ice cream, I can’t eat pizza before bed or I’ll wake up terrified.

I have coeliacs disease, thought it'd be relevant to bring up. Gluten brings me out in hives, mouth ulcers and for a few days all my food will be trying to find the nearest exit. My childhood pre-diagnosis can be summed up as trying to gamble on whether I should be sat on or leaning into the toilet.

A brief google says it's between 2.2%-14% for wheat sensitization in the worst cases and like .5%-3.4% for actual diagnosed allergy? idk it seems like "75% of people should not eat wheat" is prob not the way to go when a shitload of people are eating garbage because they're either forced to by circumstance or just dumb dumpstergoons

I'm reminded of the goon with farts so bad his job wanted to fire him, so he went to the doctor and found out he was lactose intolerant. Turns out the goon loves cheese, had an entire fridge full of fancy cheeses, and was eating like a half pound of cheese a day. Instead of giving up cheese he threatens to sue his job for discriminating against a medical condition.

Depressed brother goon. I know you said he has tried everything, but has he tried Deplin? It 100% completely cured my depression and it's relatively new and not a lot of docs know about it from what I have seen. It is prescription but the FDA classifies it as a medical food because your body already makes it. My psych explained it to me like this: You eat food and your body takes chemical x in the food and turns it into chemical y. Then your brain takes chemical y and turns it into neurotransmitters. It turns out a lot of depressed people have a deficiency in turning chemical x into chemical y so they never have enough precursors for their neurotransmitters. Deplin is just straight chemical y. Basically, if the typical medications aren't helping your depression you probably have this deficiency because most depression meds work on the neurotransmitters themselves and it can't fix you if you don't have enough in the first place. Deplin is l-methylfoliate which is an active form of foliate. It's not the same as just taking foliate supplements because that's chemical x and you still won't make enough y. If he does get on it then it is important he actually take Deplin. There are some generic versions and my doc said they don't work as well. The generics aren't the exact same molecule like most generic drugs are. Deplin usually isn't covered by insurance and the pharmacy was going to charge like $200 so I tried the generic and it didn't do much for me. I found out if you get on the Deplin site they have a pharmacy partner that will only charge you $50 if your insurance won't pay. In 2 weeks of getting on Deplin my depression was COMPLETELY gone, something I didn't think was possible. Now that I have seen how well it works I would happily pay $500 a month for it. I can't recommend enough that anybody with depression try it out. There aren't any side effects really since it's a medical food and not a drug. There is a blood test that can tell you if you have the deficiency but my psych told me it isn't worth it since it's a medical food you should just try it and not have to pay for the test. alternatively, you may want to consider cutting your dick off to help with the depression. the chemicals your body release in reaction to cutting your dick off are 100% natural

D-Pad posted:*post about Deplin and folic acid metabolism* I would agree on checking into this. My treatment path for this was discovered after having gene testing (via a mouth swab) performed. The testing also explained why I was having such unexpected reactions to SSRI's, as I have a drug-gene interactions those anti-depression medications. If one hasn't been performed, obtaining a depression focused gene test might help.

I am horribly allergic to dairy and even just a little whey protein will tear me a new one. I'm mostly vegetarian nowadays, which means the only places I can truly order anything off the menu are vegan places. Getting older sucks, but it's worse if you don't try to take care of yourself.

I've had a weird experience with lactose intolerance. As an infant, it was so bad my mother couldn't even drink milk. But I grew out of it by the time I was 3 or 4. Then in my early 30s it came back for a few years and I bought lactose-free milk and ice cream. But one day I drank some regular milk and nothing happened, and I've been fine since.

Tbh, lactose-free milk is absolutely fine and lactose-free ice cream is comparatively poo poo so I just eat dairy ice cream less often

isn't lactose intolerance a stupid concept anyway? as mammals aren't we meant to be weaned off milk after childhood because we lose the enzymes capable of digesting lactose over the years? I'm vegetarian but I still eat certain cheeses sometimes because it's an awesome way of transforming milk into tasty stuff, but milk on its own and in general is baffling. especially when you see how filled with blood, pus, hormones and all sorts of nasty poo poo that needs to be nuked before it's presented as wholesome milk freshly squeezed from a cow's udders by hand. witnessing the hellish processes of dairy, egg and meat production is always a good wake up call

if you're lactose intolerant the proper response is to eat nothing but dairy for years until your body finally caves in and starts produces the enzymes again i spent half a decade locked in a mortal battle with my own digestive tract and now I can chug a gallon of whole milk and my colon just has to put up with it. it was all worth it to reclaim my birthright as a human, the species destined to enslave, destroy and consume all others. if looking at a conveyor belt of pigs being slowly fed into an industrial grinder doesn't fill you with a sense of pride in your species and a hunger for pork then you don't even deserve to call yourself a human.
