Nevermind. I googled it. It is an n BUT! No-one has ever written it that way. That’s a template. Robokomodo has a new favorite as of 19:07 on Feb 19, 2019 |

So few people use cursive these days that even the people who teach it have started forgetting how to write it. e: Also, none of the other letters in that word are cursive. It's "Demver". SneezeOfTheDecade has a new favorite as of 19:28 on Feb 19, 2019 |

I'd be a lot more on board with people who want to bring back cursive writing in schools if they didn't also in literally 100% of cases want to bring back corporal punishment and mandatory prayer.

Good god the purpose of cursive is to write letters that are connected together You don't count the connecting pieces as part of each individual letter, the "n" doesn't have three vertical strokes in cursive mode, it's supposed to just connect to the "e" in a single smooth stroke, that's the entire point jfc

Most people don't learn cursive, and at the same time literacy has exploded in a truly unprecedented way. The average person today reads and writes probably literally a thousand times more than the average person a hundred years ago.

I bought the MP3 copy of the album. Holy gently caress it's even funnier if you can actually understand the lyrics. Which is made even better because a large part of the script was posted online! Also they make it very clear that Diana was 17 and Prince Charles was 30 when they first fell in love and I don't think the musical ever points out how creepy this is. Also, she took one of her songs about the paparazzi and made it about Octomom? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYfozqUhmSI

The average person today reads and writes probably literally a thousand times more than the average person a hundred years ago. even incredibly well educated writers from 200 years ago like coleridge were continuously "mispelling" names and places and nouns and verbs, even in an internally inconsistent way (across various letters or pieces of writing) because at the time they just hadnt been standardised yet. language is fluid but we've made some serious efforts at standardising certain things, including how you write letters. and with the advent of computers and how that has transformed literacy and the written word, i have absolutely no idea why people would ever hang onto the idea of cursive beyond "this is a way that people used to write, and sometimes still write if they want to, so know how to read it and then do what you want from here on out" last year i was doing some romanian classes and it took me probably 3 lessons to realise that my teacher was writing in block letters but with a cursive n, and i'd been learning the words with an m instead. i'd say that different styles of writing are cool and all but i'd never look down on someone for just using block letters because cursive is absolutely a part of the past

The Conservative government of Ontario is pulling crazy modern and hyper liberal ideas from our public school sex Ed curriculum like consent and the idea that gay people exist because sex Ed was perfected in 1992 or something. The funny part? Here's the idiot in charge next to his (thankfully) late younger brother. Conservatives are terrified of everything and will cling to anything that existed in their formative years.
