Ugh, so I tried to start playing today and for some reason New Vegas won't let me play any of my saves. It tells me 'content is missing' then crashes on load. I haven't added or removed any saves since I played yesterday and according to Mod Organizer I'm not missing any esms connected to the save files. Anyone have any troubleshooting tips?

So, this is working very well for me, except i can't cap fps and my character runs extremely fast. I tried editing the ini from stutter fix mod so that max fps is 60 but it doesn't cap. Now it works if i select to launch NVSE from MO2 instead of regular new vegas. but it says i have an old version of nvse and casm doesnt work because of it, even though GetNSEVersion returns "5" Temaukel fucked around with this message at 20:52 on Feb 23, 2019 |

Do you have it through steam? Maybe try verifying it, mod organizer keeps the mods in a seperate folder so it shouldn't mess with any of those.

I have a question regarding custom races. Certain custom races don't have eyes, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to add eyes to the race so that I don't have to stare at the inside of my PC's empty skull each time I decide to play dress up.

There's now a lightweight Windows 10 alternative for NVSR, it's called NVTF - New Vegas Tick Fix e: wait why wouldn't a custom race include eyes, that's wild have you checked the comments section for the mod? It might not be working properly ThaumPenguin fucked around with this message at 01:04 on Feb 26, 2019 |

Yeah to me this sounds like either a corrupted install or a missing dependency (some sort of eye overhaul mod), might want to check the mod description carefully and see if it's brought up anywhere

I'm using Dragbody's Brotherhood Reforged mod and it includes the option to pick from the custom head meshes when choosing a player race. Unfortunately all of the custom head meshes seem to lack eyes. I opened up the head in GECK to see what eye options there were and they seem to have unique eyes specific to each head, rather than drawing from the base game eye options. I want to know how, if possible, I can add the base game eye options to the custom races so I don't have to see the hollow head.

Apparently the eyes are equipped by the NPCs, so if I want to have the eyes I'll need to find the item code for them. Or find a way to add eyes to the race via Geck.

It's honestly not the first time I've seen body parts be equipables in New Vegas or Gamebryo modding. Hell, the Moonshadow Race has equippable ears. And yes, I'm using that example rather than the equippable dildo mods that you see when the Slab starts leaking. Arc Hammer fucked around with this message at 02:57 on Feb 26, 2019 |

I imagine the eyes might have some functionality that isn't supported by the standard FNV eye body part, like they might animate a bit so as to avoid the weird dead stare NPCs in this game tends to have that's just guesswork on my part through

I've used the autopatcher mod that adds eyes and hairs to other custom races and they work fine, like using Fallout Character Overhaul eyes on the aforementioned Moonshadow race. I'll keep digging to see if there's a way I can tweak it to use eyes from other mods. EDIT: Trip Report. I tried to add the eye meshes and textures to a duplicate of the race and met with horrifying results. Is there a reason that the eyes are staring up like that and is there a way to change it? It's possible they use a different mesh which positions the eyes differently so vanilla to custom won't work that way. your issues with misaligned weird eyes tend to support that as a possibility. I think dragbody may have done some weird poo poo and not really tested out proper compatibility. It might be easier to make the custom eyes flagged playable and go the other way so you at least have custom eyes with a custom head. or just don't use his custom headpart for your courier? I dunno. i've seen some skyrim mods which come with custom headsculpts require either custom eyes or patches for eye mods to do this, for example Psion fucked around with this message at 06:23 on Feb 26, 2019 |

I went into the files and found the nif file for the eyes and hair used by each of drag's custom heads and tried making them the filepath for the eye models in the GECK facedata tab. Same thing happened, eyes rolled back into the head like they were too high up. I shot a question on the gunetwork page to see if anyone had a solution. Hopefully i hear back. The races seem to have custom eyes, but they don't show up in the racemenu, leaving the eye sockets empty. According to drag, the eyes seem to be given as items to each npc, but I don't know if I was just reading that wrong or not.

I found a sort of solution. I went into FNVEdit and found the item code for the hair and eyes, and then used console commands to equip them, and that worked. However, I want to use a different hair, so I think my next step is going to be to create a duplicate of the eye and hair item, and then edit the nif file so that it only includes the eyes and not the hair.

Psion posted:this sounds like they shouldn't have even tried to make the heads playable, what a mess Yeah it does feel like the racemenu heads were just an afterthought on Drag's part. I guess thats the trouble of doing asset rips, though. Custom hairs and eyes don't play nice with the menus, so you need to use alternative methods to equip them properly. It is still funny seeing Shelly from Resident Evil 6 and Rudi Jäger from Wolfenstein as NPCs though. Arc Hammer fucked around with this message at 04:40 on Mar 3, 2019 |

So, I finally found a solution after fiddling around with the GECK. I found the equipment piece that comprised the hair and eyes for the race and made a copy. I then changed the model path from the original nif file to one I made that only had the eye models. After that, I changed the equipment slot that the new item resided in from the hair slot dragbody's original mod had it in. Poof, working eyes that don't overwrite hairs from other mods. I am a happy man.

Signature Armor which I believe was created by a goon, allows you to upgrade the armor as you wear it longer, so you don't instantly break the difficulty curve. Invisible armored vests just a little add-on that let's you equip invisible armor in addition to whatever ever you're wearing, can instantly break the difficulty curve if you want.

One of the perk mods includes one that makes it so you get huge bonuses when wearing high society wear, to make it comparable to mid/late game armor. I think it's just "More Perks" or whatever. Two perks, one you can get early-ish, the other that comes later and turns your suit into power armor.

There's also the Casino heists mod that adds some fancy suits with improvised riot gear parts. Also you can Rob casino vaults. Doesn't include equipable eyes and hair, however, so it might not be up to my exacting standards of mod prestige.

In non horrifying eyeball related modding, I was wondering if anyone with experience using ENBs or LOD generation could give me some tips. My PC can run a heavily modded new Vegas with ENBs at 60fps... Most of the time. Rather than break things by using higher ugridstoload settings I've used FNVLODGenerator to make distant landscapes appear better. I get these hiccups where the game hangs or my fps tanks for a couple seconds as I move from one grid to the next and everything suddenly decided to reload in. Rather than a smooth transition from the distant LOD to the close up textures and meshes, the meshes vanish for a split second before switching to the close up. So once I'm in a grid things are mostly smooth apart from the occasional tic that the stutter remover misses, but moving to a new ugrid causes these massive lag spikes. I don't know if there's a function in the enb ini that I can switch or if I screwed something up using LODGen, but this is the number one cause if fps drop in my game right now short of messing around with increased wasteland spawns. EDIT: I have found something of a solution. I upped the uExteriorCellBuffer from 36 to 102 and that seems to have diminished the hitching and sudden pop in. It still chugs for areas with a high number of objects, like Nipton, but outside in the wasteland is a lot smoother. Arc Hammer fucked around with this message at 02:15 on Mar 15, 2019 |

Are you using New Vegas Stutter Remover? I've read it has compatibility issues with Windows 10, but I've never personally experienced any aside from when I start mucking with the various config files. That said, these are the settings I use without issue and I've seen this recommended elsewhere. Under the "Master" section at the top, disable everything except "bHookCriticalSections", "bReplaceGetTickCount", "bFastExit", and "bExperimentalStuff". Under "Experimental" section just below Master, make sure everything is disabled except "iThreadsFixedToCPUs". Under the "Heap" section further down, set "iHeapAlgorithm" to 6. Everything else should be left as is. If you do get crashing, set "iHeapAlgorithm" back to whatever it was at before, and disable "bExperimentalStuff". Those two seem to be the culprit 99% of the time, but they can help out so much.

I've tried those and they haven't helped, but upping the exterior cell buffer line in the ini did mitigate things somewhat. I'll message around with those settings some more. I also installed dynavision so I can use the HorizonClean DOF options to blur the distance a bit and hide texture pop in.
