Yes, I saw you mentioned micing. I was also pointing out that the mixing has a much bigger impact on the sound of those drums than the mastering.

New Madlib & Gibbs is dope, really excited for Bandana to drop. I heard that Madlib and his brother also just completed a project (Madlib beats with OhNo raps) but haven't heard anything about a release date. And then there was Mos Def and Talib Kweli mentioning over the summer that Black Star 2 is in the works with Madlib producing all of the beats. Gonna be a loving great year if all of that stuff manages to be released.

I've always thought Kweli was kinda blah, and while the Mos Def album that Madlib handled most of the production for was amazing and super underrated (The Ecstatic), Mos's last project was just terrible and I pretty much justify anything he does (hell, I've even argued that his deliberately throwaway album was actually good). Madlib and Gibbs track is really good. I just hope they actually were able to work on everything together in one go or reasonably so. I don't think it was explicitly said, but I know with their first album together there was a couple tracks released really early, and I don't think the actual album came out for almost two years. Unsurprisingly, the early tracks were super amazing (Thuggin is still my fav Gibbs track ever), and it just felt that about half the tracks didn't measure up. I always assumed they started the project, started touring and doing whatever, then had to come back together and finish it.

I think Kweli is a great rapper, but he also just puts out tons of music. He has something like 7 solo albums and 8 collaboration albums so there is bound to be some variance. Kweli and Mos recently did a couple shows together and I heard from some friends that it was an awesome show. Its hard to not get excited when you hear that Kweli, Yasiin, and Madlib are working together.

Here's my takes of the latest - Blueface is horrible, I can't understand why he is becoming popular - Lil Pump new song with Lil Wayne is actually decent, better than Gucci Gang kinda poo poo at least (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJRGkvNqrY4) - Cardi B's voice and flow is nowhere near as good as Nicki Minaj, and both have annoying public personalities; also Cardi doesn't write her own songs... don't really see why she's getting so much attention other than novelty. I enjoy this song with Nicki (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwAnH6PLimo) and Chun Li is pretty catchy as long as you ignore some dumb lyrics, which I do anyway for a lot of that subgenre of rap - New Offset album is better than any Migos album, the beats are good and lyrics are way way better than anything Migos put out before, actually have something to them besides flexing (only 15 Patek mentions!) (good video and song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWh-TmG_h7g) - Weird that Kanye keeps collaborating with douche-bags like XXX, 69, Trump and now this accused serial killer YNW Melly; maybe I am even forgetting more. Guess that's his thing now? - New Gunna album is OK but again feels like a low budget Thugger, best song is 3 headed snake which has a Thugger feature and seems more like it should be his song. Gunna just sounds like a lower toned version of Thugger to me but lacks the same emotion and range in his singing. Any idea who he has as guest artists for his live shows? The show is in Toronto so I'm hoping for Sicko Mode with Drake but that's probably a big reach.
