I think it sets a hard limit of 125x125, but in almost applications that's getting shrunken down to a square that's the same size as the default font to fit on a single line, both horizontally and vertically. Once you get some decent emojis in its nice though, you can add reacts that tag at the bottom of any comment. Squaresame gets a ton of use.

Discord allows 125x125 but displays 32x32.

The full sized image is still stored and some bots can access that through commands though.

Proper discourse is the centrist ideal. If a nazi says "kill all jews/blacks" and a socialist says "gently caress nazis", the centrist will pooh-pooh the socialist for saying a bad word.

I think the chef himself comes from a frozen pizza brand called discorse or something, which can also mean "meal" in romance languages?

After seeing the way that smilie is used here it’s weird to see this Medium article

quote:

not only is it a high-quality meme, it’s inclusive — this meme, if this could ever be said about one, makes a typical Tumblr user feel safe. Included. Welcome. The key word “discourse,” meaning “written or spoken communication or debate,” ties it all together, and you thus feel like a part of that mass communication. That chef isn’t winking at you for nothing — you are involved in that “discourse” in some way, and he knows you are.

The Discourse is primarily one individual’s expression — instead of existing initially as a community response, it’s a way for one person to respond to a fight between, again, individuals. But when that individual response is reblogged or spread around social media sites, with the original post attached, that is when the individual reaction becomes the group’s reaction.
The Discourse, thus, serves as a way for both individuals and whole groups, primarily the (occasionally) cohesive Internet community, to respond to arguments we don’t always like seeing in a way that expresses our discomfort, granting us the inclusivity we lack feeling when we stumble across arguments like this.

And so on. Now I feel like I have no idea what it is

You could always write something about how this meme, and many others, were stolen from SA and submit it to Medium. You could even write about misapropriation of memes! Think of all the ones of views it'd get!

Chefs have been assuring people by leering manically and making the okay gesture for decades

It took them a while to perfect it, back before that gesture became the standard "Eyyyy, atsa perfecto!" gesture they were throwing up all sorts of random gang signs over food:

:ssh: almost every time a person thinks a meme was created by SA it's because SA is literally the only website they visit regularly so it was the first place they exposed it to. Even the classic example of the  face was something that was created by a webcomic and only later started being used on a bunch of other sites including SA.

Uhm, actually, you are wrong! Here's what real meme historians have to say.

quote:

According to Chris Ainsworth of the gaming blog Driph[1], the Awesome Face was part of a series of emoticons designed and illustrated for the Pokemon-related web forum Pokemopolis. He claims to have contacted the creator of the image, and published the following correspondence:

I drew the icon years ago as part of an emoticon set he wanted for their new forum software, and I think he showed you all the other ones that were designed along with it. I’m not really sure what exactly I wanted it to represent but I think the ‘ridiculous childish glee’ that it now signifies is probably close!

I’m also a member at Something Awful and the first time I saw it posted I did a double take… I even remember my mind racing as to why and HOW someone had picked up a crappy lil’ icon off a tiny website, and I’m still not sure to this day… I assume a Pokemopolis member posted it on 4Chan. At that point I thought its posting would be a one time thing, but then I saw it more and more. It got to the point where I couldn’t read SA because everytime I saw it I’d just be completely freaked out, and naturally I came to hate it! I hoped every day that it would become bannable to post it, but the next best thing was replacing the VBCode. I also posted in BYOB in a thread Whalley made saying that I had made the icon originally, trying to get him to divulge where he had gotten it from. Most of SA assumed it was a ‘BYOB thing’ which was probably good because they’d probably want to lynch me if they actually knew where it was from.

I never expected it to become such a widespread meme, and I can’t say I even understand why its popular or why people want to make bag pins of it (Sure wish I could get some commission for the design though haha). It still weirds me out when I see webcomics use it though I’ve grown used to it now, sometimes I even tell nerdy neckbeard types that my dirty secret is psst I drew THAT smiley, which makes them say “MOAR!” or whatever is cool on 4Chan this week.

Though just for clarity sake my excuse for being on a Pokemon site in the first place was that I was young and stupid. But that’s the price of Internet fame!

Or it's because AYBABTU was made from stolen images and music from SA, the fact that image macros come from SA, that :parrot: is a SA thing, that, aside from moot being a goon before he started 4chan and posted on ADTRW, the culture of 4chan comes from SA because it was filled by goons FYAD posting anonymously after moot posted a thread once he's created the site, or a million other dumb and/or offensive things like You Gonna Get Raped, Party Hard, Slender Man, Chuck Norris facts. Hell, one could argue that Twitch wouldn't exist in its current form if not for Let's Play which is a SA thing as well. And I guarentee you that's only the absolute top of the iceberg, it goes deep.

EDIT: Striking this dumb post.
