Competition committee is considering restricting celebrations again, because white people suck. Also relative value of team's draft picks: https://twitter.com/RNBWCV/status/1100053339822309381 Jimmy Johnson is the old trade value chart, that undervalues mid-late picks and treats every top pick as if there's a franchise QB to take there. Chase Stuart is based off of career AV analysis, and more closely aligned to what happens when there isn't a franchise QB to trade for. tl;dr Don't gently caress this up Raiders.

Didnt JJ pull the original draft chart values literally out of his rear end?

Nissin Cup Nudist posted:Didnt JJ pull the original draft chart values literally out of his rear end? He designed it when working for the Cowboys way back when... so kinda? not sure what analysis he based it off of honestly. It was the defacto method of making trades for like the next decade, but fell off as top picks became insanely expensive / any trade not involving going up for a top QB and has mostly fallen completely out of favor for something close to Chase Stuart's analysis / picking on whatever dumb GM gets desperate.

Man it was just like a year ago when people were absolutely killing me for saying that Crabtree was more of a liability than a benefit for the Raiders. Now he's in full-on "team doesn't want him even for free" territory.

It's amazing how when a receiver falls off the cliff people still want to give him money. Thinking about guys like Victor Cruz and Wayne Chrebet and Dwayne Bowe.

Nissin Cup Nudist posted:Didnt JJ pull the original draft chart values literally out of his rear end? I believe it was based on all previous recorded trades. So in other words it was not trying to value the picks in an objective sense - it was valuing the picks based on what other teams had valued them previously. So to the extent teams' valuation of picks was flawed (and boy was it ever), then his chart replicated that.
